And the character concepts for Midge Munster's special! I had to scale these for Instagram so the scale looks a bit wack now but it's the designs that matter 🤌
The actual characters are so well designed and feature some stunning costume and makeup work, it was so fun getting to stylize them all!

this is about All You Need Is Kill and Little Amélie specifically but in general that's so exciting! when there i try to see the features i don't imagine i'll get to see on a big screen otherwise, so anime and indie productions... but lately they've also been getting distribution!! love to see it

To the best of my knowledge you can't un-train a model, it's not like OpenAI can be like "hey Sora, forget the hours upon hours of content from this one specific source, the copyright holder has opted out". So how is this meant to work? (mostly a rhetorical question - it won't work, by design)

So this is a very, very desperate move - a very silly app of generative AI slop that will be incredibly expensive for OpenAI to run, and on top of it, they're requiring rights holders to *opt out* once they see violations. You can't do it in advance. They're washed, and trying everything to survive.

OpenAI is planning to release a new version of its Sora video generator that creates videos featuring copyright material unless copyright holders opt out. When a business is based on theft of others' work, it is not a legal business.

we're all having some kind of bad time and i keep seeing people say they're too anxious to "risk" not resharing those threads for fear of having a WORSE time. if you start them you're exploiting people's anxieties for social media traction.

Finally: AI cannot do your job, but an AI salesman can 100% convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job, and when the bubble bursts, the money-hemorrhaging "foundation models" will be shut off and we'll lose the AI that can't do your job, and you will be long gone, retrained or retired or "discouraged" and out of the labor market, and no one will do your job. I don't think it's realistic to expect to do your job for 8+ hours a day and then do a complete art piece for a challenge. Some people can manage it and that's great but I hope we've moved past beating ourselves up for not being able to keep up.

e.g. if your main source of income is Patreon so your content for that month includes the challenge content (Inktober, Mermay, etc). I follow a tattoo artist who does Swordtember each year and sells the designs as tattoo flash, so the time she'd normally spend on flash she spends on the challenge

Most years I make some headway into Swordtember and some Mermay, but can't keep it up as stuff starts getting busy and just do bits sporadically. The only people I see who do those things consistently every year are people who can tie the challenge into their full-time job,

I love a monthly challenge but the one year I did a full one from start to finish (Outfit August in like... 2019, woof it's been a while), I happened to have exactly a month in between jobs so I had no job to go to but also didn't have the pressure of securing my next job.
