“Hey boss, are you sure Flamigo is more popular than Charizard, and people aren’t just misspelling ‘Flamingo’ on Google?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course Flamigo is more popular than Charizard, Mewtwo, Eevee, and Snorlax. Send the email.”

it is so dumb, and an amazing cash grab for the predatory or unscrupulous. it might have been a good deal once to incentivize wide scale adoption but not now

it’s mostly an Ontario thing. it’s Weird (and fascinating if you are a utility nerd) and— despite being almost entirely an ON thing— a significant national competition and consumer advocacy issue by volume. If you can manage to get a place without a rental, that’s the way to go

it's all just art. "porn" is just art that makes you horny, in precisely the way that "horror" is art that makes you scared and "metroidvania" is art that makes you write video essays

Frog came into the house.

“Toad,” said Frog, “your pants and jacket are lying on the floor.”

“Tomorrow,” said Toad from under the covers.

“Your kitchen sink is filled with dirty dishes,” said Frog.

“Tomorrow,” said Toad.

ANALYSIS | The big questions Danielle Smith poses to Albertans as referendums | CBC News Alberta's premier used to want rapid growth in newcomers and enjoyed surplus budgets. Now in deficit, she's pointing a finger at immigration levels.

Wild stat I found:
9 referendums (plus 10 for separation) means that on one October day, Alberta will have more ballot measures than in all 121 Alberta years before that. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Sure it’s possible a series of loaded questions framed specifically to elicit public opposition to immigration were accidental

In the same way this child is absolutely innocent of any confectionary consumption whatsoever and how dare you suggest otherwise

William Blake’s illustration for “The Tyger” has what appears to be a dippy grin for some reason.

William Blake’s illustration for “The Tyger” has what appears to be a dippy grin for some reason.

The wonderful thing about Tyggers
Is Tyggers are burning bright
Their tops are made out of rubber
In the forest of the night

What bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy,
Immortal hand or eye
Did frame the most wonderful thing about Tyggers,
Their fearful symmetry!

‪Doctors say that vaccines protect children from dangerous diseases. A nepo baby who barbecues dogs and snorts cocaine off toilet seats says that vaccines make children vulnerable to 5G radiation. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

catastrophic system failure does sound more like the Dumb’s fault than ‘I got so angry my ears wouldn’t stop ringing and all I could do about it was faceplant the pillows and hide from consciousness for a while’. maybe i should reframe it to make it someone else’s problem.

haha although Murderbot may be more readily able to write the Dumb off as a human-and-augmented-human thing, and not sit there frothing until the universe explains itself or the rage nap attacks

look, i am just Bad at understanding dumb things. if narratively or factually something doesn’t make sense because /it doesn’t work like that/, i do not know what i’m supposed to be understanding. and boy howdy, that might not be my biggest flaw, but it’s a contender for most fucking annoying

906 days.

That's how long Meta's been blocking news in Canada.

Doesn't matter if the outlet is based in Canada, the U.S. or Germany – we can't read it. Small non-profit or legacy newspaper. Can't read it. Posts made before Aug. 1, 2023? Nope. But disinformation, AI-generated spam, that'll pass.

Toad went out to his garden with some candles.

“I will read the seeds a story,” said Toad. “Then they will not be afraid.”

'The Old Order is Not Coming Back': Mark Carney's Speech to the World Economic Forum - Policy Magazine The following is the text of Prime Minister Mark Carney's speech to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 20, 2026.

Carney’s speech is fantastic and lyrical, and it’s overdue to have a G7 leader finally say out loud what we’ve all felt. Draws heavily on Stubb’s pragmatic realism, and reminds me of Bob Rae’s thinking and turns of phrase
