Upon further examination, I did manage to get a good quality photo of these flowers! You can see by the size of the grass in the background just how close I had to get to see these. I probably looked silly squatting in the grass to get a picture.

For some reason I enjoy taking photos down paths - or at least openings you can walk through in the woods. Most of it is an aesthetic thing, I feel.

This moth was also at the wildlife reserve. I like how its antenna is as long as its little body :)

Here's the birdhouse in the daylight. Minus the birds - I don't think they liked me sitting on the porch very much. They usually came back when I went inside for a while. 2/2

When I took this photo, it wasn't THAT dark outside. At least I didn't think it was. The preview my camera showed was also brighter - but when I looked at the actual images, it was so dark you could barely see. Good lighting is important for good photos. More light than you think. 1/2

Another victim of Auto-Focus. I have at least two dozen photos of this bird (an egret maybe?) because I so badly wanted it to come out good (the opening in the bushes was PERFECT), but my camera really wanted to focus on the bushes in front instead. This event made me google how to turn off AF.

Here are these little blue flowers. My camera has an auto-focus feature built in as a switch on the camera itself. I did not learn of that switch until a little while after taking pictures like this one. If I'd focused the lens manually I might have gotten it.

... and the third bee. Not a huge fan of the angle, but I still think it's cute.

Another bee. (Maybe the same one). The wings were blurrier, but you can see one of its eyes and its antennae, which is cool. 2/3

I took a lot of bee pictures. I can't help it - something about their fuzzy little bodies makes them fun to photograph. It was very bright out that day, but that made it so the sun reflected off its wings really nicely. I love the color in it and the way it makes the wings look like gold. 1/3

One of the places we went to on vacation was a nature reserve with these big flower bushes out in the front, and there were plenty of insects that seemed to enjoy them. There was also something that looked like a monarch, but I couldn't get a picture of it in time because it was moving so much :(

One of my favorite things to do with my camera is get up close and take photos of flowers. This one came out pretty good - if you zoom in closely enough, you can see little gray mites/bugs hanging from the flower, and pollen sticking to the anthers...

Most of the images on my camera were taken on summer vacations over the past few years. This image was one of the houses I previously stayed at - it was taken right after it rained, so I remember trying to be pretty quick about running down the driveway to take it before it started raining again.
