Easy solution: Knock the fuel pump over and see if the excess pressure will cause fuel to spill out like a broken fire hydrant. Then you get the excuse of simply cleaning up the spill!

Good news is that due to their... Extensive deployment on Reach, from what I can remember they're rather... Endangered (Ie retroactive reasoning as to why they didn't appear in earlier games) and in need of a population boost. Probably.
