At the Big Sustainability Expo in Southampton today in Southampton as part of myprintpod . Great little company Notpla who are using seaweed based alginates in food packaging. Good for the planet and good for you as it’s more biocompatible. Thanks for chat from Ella O'Toole - category owner.

Just at Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) listening to the new president - Dawn Ohlson CEng FIET. This is her inaugural address. She currently conscripting us all to help “build a better world” and she may very well succeed. Very impressive person and we are lucky.

We are at the Clean Maritime Day 2025 in London at the Methodist Central Hall across from Westminster Abbey. This is an #InnovateUk and #DepartmentofTransport event to bring all the thinkers together on how to #decarbonise the UK maritime industry. This is around 5% of transports carbon emissions.

Very glad have to have taken the 5hr drive last week to Cornwall to meet with Ian Falconer of 0rCA®. They gather gill nets from fishing fleets, to make nylon 3d printing filament. Very low co2 emissions… very strong! #sustainability #3dprinting #circulareconomy

Mike's cheapskate! Designed a new fishtank lid for his son's birthday.. 30 mins for the #Fusion360 work and 7 hours to #3dprint using #recycled PetG. Came out well I think. He likes it... Makes a nice change from industrial components. myprintpod.com.

Too fast! Much much too fast! This is what happens when you try to #3dprint a part too quickly. This is Portcuthno Nylon 6 from Fishyfilaments in Cornwall - made from recycled fishing nets. The bending clearly shows the secret stresses that build up inside a part as the nylon recrystallises...

Great description “genius fools” although I suspect they know exactly what they are doing. The immoral wholesale vacuuming up of all human thought and cramming it into manifolds like butterflies in jam jars… Not happy about this and for what? Just to concentrate wealth and power for personal greed..

UK Green economy grew by 10% last year and is now bigger than agriculture, advertising and many other sectors. The current GDV contribution is 1.1%. last years growth was 9% - so it will be interesting to see whether its 11-12% in 2025.

How tyres are turning green As the shift to using renewable and recycled materials in car tyres accelerates, Nina Notman talks to the manufacturers driving the change

Two to three billion vehicle tyres are produced every single year. That’s a phenomenal amount of raw material used to create something with a short lifetime. But there’s an effort to make them more sustainable.

The government shouldn’t pin all of its hopes for economic growth on the finance industry Such a strategy was tried in 1970s and came to grief in the mid-1970s secondary banking crash.

UK manufacturing accounts for £518bn; 23% of GDP; 7.3m jobs. £1m of manufacturing activity has £1.8m multiplier effect.

Finance industry contributed £208.2bn; 8.8% of GDP; 1.17m jobs; speculation has zero multiplier effect.

But Govt wants bigger finance industry
