Right? Everyone's acting like it's surely a bullshit nepobaby job. Maybe it is. But I'm hearing echoes of imperialism.

They won't unless forced, so it's not going to happen. The big companies get reimbursed by the government for costs they already passed on to the consumer.

My concern is that it might end up being a real role, with real power but none of that pesky congressional oversight.

I think this is overly optimistic.

She's out at DHS, but her new role may give her just as much if not more power - no way to know yet.

I realize we're seeing volatility, but they just see that as shopping day.

Markets love war. So...never, possibly. It's an easy off ramp for people who put all their money in AI.

It's only a war if Congress says so, otherwise it's just sparkling military intervention.

We haven't had a declaration of war I this country since WWII. We've had authorizations for use of military force, but all of our wars have famously not been "wars" in a legal sense because Congress abrogates its responsibilities.

Just saw this on another platform. Overseas military folks getting prenatal care are being told that the ‘host nation’ must provide this, but only after 36 weeks (just shy of 9 months). Landstuhl is not remotely a hardship tour. I think we all know what’s going on here.
