we’re in the vet’s office waiting room and they just called for Agamemnon. we all looked at the Great Dane but it turns out Agamemnon is an orange kitten in a backpack that makes him look like an astronaut cheese puff

It’s like a Great Value Dutch Bros but does the job fine, and the iced latte with a shot of banana syrup is good! Beware that the β€œlarge” is the biggest coffee I’ve ever seen

Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything is one of my very favorite books. He’s up there with Roach as a writer whose work is informative yet accessible and hilarious.

Bigelow is totally fine! (And I say that as a person with a whole cabinet full of different brands of Earl Grey.) You can mix it up if you’re looking for a little variety, or you can just enjoy what you like.

facebook post from brookfield zoo chicago with a picture of an axolotl and the caption:

β€œAnd the votes are in...

Please give a warm welcome to our newly named axolotl: Sir Mix-O-Lotl. Thank you to everyone who cast their vote in our naming contest. Stop by The Living Coast to say hi to Sir Mix-O-Lot on your next visit!
Brookfield Zoo Chicago recently took in 20 rescued axolotls that were illegally imported at O'Hare International Airport and seized by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officers. These salamanders were imported from Indonesia and needed professional care to survive. Axolotls are listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List).
You can symbolically adopt Sir Mix-O-Lot to support the care, education, and conservation of this critically endangered species at https://bit.ly/4mFQXlh.”

Feels like there's been less Marian this season, which is why it's so much better than the previous two? Maybe they finally realized what a charisma vacuum that character is

In popular culture, menopause is typically associated with hot flushes. In our Menopause: What's Changed? exhibition, we invite visitors to drop a pebble if they experience any of these symptoms. And it turns out, hot flushes are much less common than brain fog or mood symptoms!

The rainbow is not a symbol of condemnation, but of patience, of God revealing creation will have a role in creating itself, and of God choosing renewal over destruction

All God commands as part of this rainbow deal: Don't hurt anybody, because everybody is precious

Stayed at a historic hotel in downtown Denver for a friend’s wedding in 2008. Another guest and I rode in the elevator with Emilio Estevez. He was carrying two coffees and my friend said something about double-fisting it. He just kind of smiled faintly.

3. I reach beyond myself into the ineffable, and that's where I find you, my love

Post to the subreddit r/AskHistorians:

What was navigation like for vehicle drivers in the United States before the internet and
GPS?

Before GPS devices and smartphones/cellular internet networks were a thing (Garmin company was founded 1989), millions of Americans were already getting around driving without the use of those inventions. How did they navigate? Did everyone need stacks of maps? Were drivers frequently lost? Did everyone have to understand the interstate system and use intuition to guide them? How burdensome was driving before GPS? Did drivers pay people to calculate an optimal route for them?

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying β€œI don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.
