What I find most compelling about "LANTERNS" conceptually is that it feels very much to be continuing the (so far) consistent DCU approach of being 'in media res' - "Green Lantern has been a thing on TV and in movies since the 70s, you probly know SOME of this so here's a new take already in motion"

Frankly, we've seen enough: it's time to fire all the cowards who toadied to Trump and disgraced their institutions in the process. CEOs, lawyers, university presidents. Clear them all out, replace them with people who stood firm. Remake our society with leaders who have principles and courage.

It seems nonsensical until you realize that they are no longer interested in maintaining a façade that they care about tradition. They don't like how things are and they'd rather they be some other way. Nothing has to cohere; it just has to reject the purported status quo. They're proud to be wrong.

This is flat out one of the most bizarre and disheartening situations I've seen in modern games.

Initial questions about marketing aside, not even lasting three months before a total shut down is such a clear indictment of the current state of our industry.

(Obvious observation that, yes, chasing the live-service dragon is one of MANY problems in the games business making everything worse and that this project was probably always going to be living on borrowed time. That's on upper management and investors/shareholders, NOT on the devs.)

Give a shit about the game or don't, this is a heartbreaking turn for folks who (far as we know) earnestly just wanted to make a cool game. No one should lose their jobs over a video game.

It’s funny if you call PayPal or visa lines and bring this up asking why they claim “adult illustrations” is against their regulations but betting on the death of kids is totally fine. They don’t have an answer.
