18.02.2026 02:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You literally brought up per capita gdp earlier in this thread.
15.02.2026 01:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But Iβm not sure that nuance, context, and complexity are your strong suits
14.02.2026 23:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also comparing per capita gdp across countries is tricky because the relative strength of currencies makes direct comparison difficult. Like, 36k might be way higher than a lot of countries but also gives you way worse quality of life than in those same countries.
14.02.2026 23:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Ok, I concede that even super poor counties have globally high gdp per capita, you concede that using that metric means that compared to cities, US rural areas are shitholes?
Deal.
I mean, it doesnβt matter, because if the convo is about per capita gdp then your argument about US cities being shitholes is done.
I donβt need to discuss further with someone whoβs pretty clearly never been to a US city, let alone left the country
Smooth trick switching from cities to states. A++ goalpost moving

Iβm sure you do. But both are standard measures of quality of life.
Since you mentioned guns, you should look up suicide rates, or total fun deaths. Itβll make your beloved rural America look a lot less pristine.
This is hilarious. Should we compare the per capita gdp of rural America to all of Brazil? I donβt think youβre going to love the results
14.02.2026 23:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How about this? Where you live in the middle of nowhere has the same rates of college educated people as some 3rd world countries. Therefore your town is a shithole. See how stupid that is?
14.02.2026 23:06 β π 14 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm for sure not going to try and explain because you are clearly determined to not understand regardless.
14.02.2026 23:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With all due respect, comparing a city to a whole country is monumentally stupid
14.02.2026 22:59 β π 35 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Youβll enjoy knowing there is not a single American city in the top 25 of homicide rates globally

Schumerβs milquetoast responses are easily explained: He doesnβt work for us.
Weβve seen him fight hard for the interests of his wealthy donors, but the βpeopleβ donβt write big enough checks.

Either way, I doubt weβre far apart on our estimation of this hire.
But heβs a solid floor and his extensive experience running a functional, stable, successful program probably has outsized value in UMβs current state.
Seems like chicken/egg
Either the sites have a blind spot irrespective of the coach, or the coach has a special talent for identifying talent that fits his scheme (or is able to maximize said talent) We saw that at UM the last 5+ years.
UW is a good example of how that is likely tied to a coach.
Not sure Iβm understanding your argument. Is it that recruiting rankings are unreliable, ergo outperforming them is irrelevant?
Either way, whether Whit did more with less, or found talent the sites missed, is a mark in his favor for me. (I could be wrong!)
βDoing the most with the talent at handβ seems pertinent for every coaching job.
The question it raises is why he didnβt bring in better talent at Utah and can he do so at Michigan.
βWildly impressiveβ, no.
But he consistently outperformed his recruiting rankings, by a fair distance, and thereβs something to be said for being consistently quite good. He easily has the highest floor imo.
The biggest question to me is if he can recruit at a top 10 level
Heβs going to read the entire Epstein Files start to finish

Thereβs zero chance he would have the attention span to write an entire op-ed.
If this was a tweet in all caps, then maybe.
Also, my guess is it wouldnβt jump to $30 overnight, as this graph implies.
27.06.2025 04:51 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not only that, but you see his old rap videos and his current social media vids of him walking through neighborhoods talking to folks, he is *so clearly* a NYC kid. People who grew up here have a way of interacting with all the cultures of the city that is so unique, and profoundly American.
