Surprising to me when I see screenshots from twitter, canβt believe theyβre still posting on it.

27.02.2026 23:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In better pub news, happy Friday.
27.02.2026 13:33 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The State of the Union has a whole other meaning when it I say it in my North Dublin accent.
24.02.2026 12:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Another advantage of not being on twitter is I donβt get to see this lads posts anymore. I lost some accounts I enjoyed following, but plenty more that just wound me up. I havenβt seen that pepper lads poison in at least a year.
24.02.2026 12:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For those tracking the contemporary decline in beer drinking and pub going, @iamreddave.bsky.social reckons one factor is/will be weightloss drugs: liveatthewitchtrials.blogspot.com/2026/02/off-...
18.02.2026 10:00 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0This is a necessary fillip given most Irish league games are being cancelled because apparently Ireland now suffers a monsoon season
14.02.2026 09:27 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Very sloppy.
08.02.2026 19:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Color photo of Michael Jordan dunking from the free throw line during the 1988 slam dunk contest. The photo catches him midway between the free throw line and the basket. His legs are bent, his left arm trailing behind, and the ball is cocked back in his right hand. Thousands of people fill the stands behind him, all staring at his slow motion flight through the air.
It was #OTD in 1988. Should be landing any minute now.
06.02.2026 15:25 β π 45 π 3 π¬ 5 π 1People think Teslaβs sales are tanking because the owner is a wanker (definitely a big factor). But seems to get overlooked that their cars boring and they have been overtaken by all the other electric car manufacturers π€·π»ββοΈ
05.02.2026 12:15 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Have been asked by a couple of publicans this week if we are also putting our prices up. Assume they are all doing new menus/price lists as a result of the big two putting their prices up. We are not.

A new page on the blog lists beer festivals potentially happening across Ireland in 2026. Dates for these festivals haven't yet been published but if you know any festival where dates have been made public or I've missed any festival, let me know. Cheers π»

A pub covered in graffiti and the same pub renovated.
2015 and 2026: When I took the top photo of the derelict Lord Napier pub in east London, I joked that it would probably reopen as a craft beer place. I wasn't far off.

Anyway with less and less people drinking pints, assuming the big breweries are going to have to increase profits from a smaller number of people, the only obvious answer is constant price increases.
27.01.2026 11:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thereβs a lot of people that will only buy the most expensive beer on the bar. They consider cheaper beer, worse beer, which isnβt necessarily the case. So in some ways itβs a race to the top.

Your annual reminder that βBlue Mondayβ is a complete fiction invented by a company that wanted to sell you more holidays.
Enjoy January! Itβs quiet and cosy and time for semi-hibernation, reflection and being kind to yourself!
Happy Friday, pub nerds.
16.01.2026 14:21 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Fair play to the big breweries for the constant price increase. It helps keep smaller breweries like out sustainable, and keep our pricing competitive.
14.01.2026 16:01 β π 15 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0It looks like a Galway pub has just (re)discovered the meejum ...
13.01.2026 21:14 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0So my business partner @briantreacy.bsky.social looks after the Instagram, he takes a great picture and it means people that are kind enough to follow the brewery on multiple channels get different content.
13.01.2026 21:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I still really enjoy this format, and as much as I like looking at Instagram, I donβt have an eye for a photo, and I hate taking the time to take them when Iβm in company.
13.01.2026 21:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Something we might have done if a different approach had been taken at the time, and it hadnβt taken a distinctly dark turn. Iβm now looking forward to seeing if I can build the brewery account back up to a decent level on here.
13.01.2026 21:09 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The brewery had over 10k followers on Twitter, Iβd say it was a massive part of growing our business between 2010 and 2020. Was happy enough to walk away in 2024, partly because it was pretty obvious the new owner was a prick, it had also stopped being effective unless you were willing to to pay.
13.01.2026 21:09 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Canβt believe Iβve never been! Itβs on the list for 2026!
11.01.2026 13:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Amazing, thank you π
10.01.2026 14:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, would you look at that!!!
10.01.2026 14:35 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hahaha, the irony! Assume theyβre just mad because we donβt give them any money. Surly pictures of pints is not where they draw the line? Did Side Show Bobby not just say pints are good for you?
09.01.2026 18:11 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A skeleton with a book and a beer.
Friday means it's almost time to sit back with a good book and a beer. Or you could read my new blog post about Irish porter: thebeernut.blogspot.com/2026/01/unho...
09.01.2026 12:00 β π 22 π 7 π¬ 0 π 2Would also like to start doing a bit more export, the βthingβ killed most of our export in 2020/2021 and it never really came back. Would love to start selling beer in France and England. Not trying to take over the world, just want to see our beers available in a few more places.
09.01.2026 17:09 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0We had a cracking year in 2025, the best weβve ever had. We also hired two new brewers at the end of the year and increased our capacity. Hopefully that will mean we can release a few more beers next year, definitely room to improve on the amount and variety beers we are putting out into the world.
