No healthcare premium subsidies have been secured. No food benefits preserved. They've accomplished none of their ostensible goals.
There's a lot of kinds of irritating poster, and I can't decide where "person who insistently diagnoses various famous people with Narcissism, and constantly tells people to Learn the Signs before it's Too Late" sits in the rankings

I suppose I'll grant that people have more tools with which to be jerks than ever before. I don't think that means a greater proportion of people are jerks, but it probably means we see more "new" ways people are jerks
Maybe the actual proportion of jerks has increased over time. Maybe! But I don't think I've seen evidence of this. I think we just tend to see more evidence of jerks globally because of social media, just like If It Bleeds It Leads journalism causes people to perceive an increase in crime
20.10.2025 11:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I wish people were better at understanding: if x% of all people are just kinda jerks, the number of jerks will increase over time as population increases, even if the proportion of the population stays exactly the same. Densely-populated cities will have more jerks, because that's how numbers work
20.10.2025 11:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It turns out, in so many ways, the different generations aren't that different. Mis-remembering a romantic past where, I guess, people didn't play loud music in public. Or, is this such a "leading indicator of community decline" that it started 70 years ago but the decline is just happening now?
20.10.2025 11:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is baffling. Describing actions of a small number of people (who've always existed, statistically in greater numbers in dense cities) as though Kids These Days are out of control
People drive around playing loud music, people walk with speakers, play music on the Metro. Have done all my life!
This stuff is gross and it's really disappointing to see self-proclaimed Progressives post it.
There is not a class of people called "criminals" whose political interests include reducing police
You know who refers to a "criminal" class? Scaremongering conservative pundits, usually being racist
I use it for (among many other things) line-editing, which still requires additional effort to produce, analyze, and apply AI output. I care very much about the task, in every part. "Using AI" has meaning beyond copy/pasting.
10.10.2025 12:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't care about AI company stock prices, and I already have plenty of uses for genAI so I feel pretty confident if none of these shitty companies can make it work, others will ๐คท
"Is it a good business model" is a very different question from "does it have uses" and the conflation is tiring
... as it should be? If your job is to produce an email, and you use AI to produce a shitty email and just copy/paste and move on, that's on you, not the AI

07.10.2025 11:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If people wanna argue that generative AI is bad for environmental reasons, I think those are bad arguments but they're at least based in reality. "AI is bad because it is not useful" is demonstrably untrue and betrays a person who hates AI and ignores any information that doesn't confirm their view
07.10.2025 11:20 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Posts by Marc Normandin complaining that every time he's introduced to a new AI user, it's "someone who has lost their ability to think basic thoughts on their own"
Whenever I see posts like this, they have the opposite of the (I assume) intended effect: he's admonishing AI users for being intellectual children, but you can only believe this if you only pay attention to edge cases in the news and completely ignore the many, many use cases people regularly share
