I had thought I had healed my internalized fatphobia but today I learned that it is still insidious . I suffered instead of seeking help because of my extremely traumatizing medical experiences. I can't express how important it is to have access to humanizing care.

I stopped going on hikes, going to the gym, playing softball, going to the beach even because I thought that I was just too out of shape and I was embarrassed and in my head kept telling myself that I just need to workout and it'll be fine. But then I work out and can't breathe lol.

I'm not an olympic athlete, but after experiencing truly nonjudgemental and supportive medical care today that looked at me as a whole human, I learned that I have an actual medical condition that needs treatment and it's ... just not my fault.

So I just never talked to a doctor about it because I'm fat and also smoked so I was like... those my problems to deal with and I don't need to take up a doctor's time for them to tell me that these things are the issue. Now, I'm not going to say that some of my choices aren't contributing factors.

so I have an appt at the respiratory clinic tomorrow morning to do some testing to confirm if I have asthma which the ER doc has diagnosed but wants confirmation. if I do I have strong suspicions that I developed asthma after I got COVID in 2021.
