Ethically sourced image data set encourages fairness in AI research
AI systems rely on data that often lack diversity, perpetuate biases and violate intellectual-property rights. An ethical human-image data set addresses these problems.
My News & Views piece on computer vision data set fairness just hit @nature.com. Shortcomings have always been present in our data sets, with some recent work by Sony attempting to address them for model evaluation. We still have a ways to go though for training...

Well, it depends... sometimes convention centers in less prestigious locations *are* more expensive (these places require us to buy a lot of pricey food as part of the contract to book the space). But we are casting a wider net for future meetings...

This is in fact the situation, globally. (This isn't a US-specific problem.)

To clarify βattractive locationβ: it also involves getting a convention center that meets our needs (e.g., is large enough, configurable enough).

Nice closing note for my #CVPR2024 lead GC journey: the conference just won the IEEE iCON award for outstanding achievement in conference innovation at IEEE Convene 2025. We had an exceptionally excellent organizing committee last year, and this award is a testament to that!

Nobody has exclusive rights to the IEEE/CVF co-sponsored conference names. This is why there is a fake ICCV using the same name --- anyone can freely use these names because they were never registered in any legal capacity...
