In Memoriam: William McClure, scientist who developed USC’s neurosciences programs McClure launched USC’s first neuroscience graduate program and oversaw construction of the Hedco Neurosciences Building.

I had Dr. McClure for undergraduate biology — I was so impressed by his guest lecture I took his higher-level class instead of intro. It was over my head but he was an amazing person and teacher. Probably should’ve gotten a C or D but he gave me a B- out of kindness

Pleased to share a recent study from myself and @jamesckaufman.bsky.social. We used instructional prompts to guide participants through the creative problem-solving process. They improved solution creativity, and the effect was mediated by engagement.

Margaret Boden obituary Cognitive scientist who explored how consciousness arises from biochemical interactions within the brain

Margaret Boden influence on creativity — and many other fields — was profound. She was one of the first to write and think about AI, computers, and creativity. Only met her once, at a small conference, but she was lovely. A loss to many fields.
