A former Hampshire county council Tory leader who claimed more than £15,000 in allowances over six months – despite failing to attend meetings in that period – has won a ceremonial honour for “dedication and hard work”.

Election Maps uses MRP. The Green vote is very spread out so it’s hard to translate into seats. Main caveat is that it’s probably harder to accurately model potential Green gains if they win significantly more votes

LGBT+ Liberal Democrats condemn our party's decision to base internal gender quotas on sex assigmed at birth.

This trans-exclusionary decision is an attack on one of the most vulnerable groups in our society.

Wind power has cut £104 billion from UK energy costs since 2010.⚡

We must make clear the shift to renewables isn’t just good for the planet - it’s a huge economic opportunity.

Continued investment in renewables will cut energy costs, create jobs and boost local economies.

We take no joy criticising a young left-wing UK political figure who has often spoken up for workers' rights and progressive causes. But these barely coherent comments from Zarah Sultana on Ukraine sum up much of what is wrong with her wing of the left www.instagram.com/reel/DQT62ys...

Hi folks sorry had a bit of break. Big night for the @libdems.org.uk last night winning 7 of 9 local by-elections. Reform grabbed one from LibDems. Labour, Tory & Greens all lost seats. But it wasn’t a Reform night. Often press parrots reform doing well in local council by-elex so here’s a counter.

One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.

Starmer, Badenoch and Farage are all competing to pinch ideas from Donald Trump to make Britain more isolated and insular.

Instead, Liberal Democrats will make the case for internationalism, cooperation and working closely with our allies in Europe and across the Commonwealth.

Keir Starmer says everyone in the UK will be required to have mandatory digital ID.

That’s not the kind of country we want to be.

“Liberal Democrats cannot support a mandatory digital ID where people are forced to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives... People shouldn’t be turned into criminals just because they can’t have a digital ID, or choose not to.” — Victoria Collins, Liberal Democrat Science, Innovation and Technology Spokesperson.

Formal alliances are tricky and could bleed supporters. The Lib Dems, and to a lesser extent the Greens, have highly focused campaigns and are unlikely to be targetting the same constituencies

Voters across the country have chosen our community politics over the Conservatives' neglect and disdain.

This is the first time ever that we have beaten both the Conservatives and Labour at local elections, and we now control more councils across the UK than the Conservatives.

A low-resolution picture of page 3 of today's Financial Times, a paper famously printed on slightly pink paper. The main headline is 'Lib Dems chase 'big opportunity' in push for Tory rout in southern shires', with the subtitle 'Leader Davey hopes party will be major beneficiary of discontent with Labour and Conservatives' just visible. A very large picture is in the centre, of a besuited Sir Ed Davey MP walking down a village lane in bright sunshine, alongside a woman wearing sunglasses, a red short-sleeved top, a black skirt and leggings, and brown boots.

What's that? Oh, just Ed Davey campaigning beside a trans #LibDem local election candidate as the main picture in the leading article about the local elections in today's FT!

Best of luck to all @libdems.org.uk candidates in tomorrow's local elections. 💛
