The beauty of a hummingbird

I watch, dazzled, realizing that
grace is not the absence of effort
but its perfect disguise.

I loved the way Peter O’Toole sang that song. It got to me.

I think it would be easy to overdramatize, or sing too gently, too sweetly.

But he sang it with an earnestness that seemed to intensify as the song moved on.

And earnestness is what Don Quijote is all about.
