Iran is a large, well located, resource rich country. If it was well run it would dominate the regions. Its neighbours of course know this. Israel (not actually a neighbour) knows this. The US (half a planet away) knows this. Hence the objective - as far as possible keep it fucked up.

Why is Israel murdering several dozen of the senior leadership of Iran by missile fire deemed to be something the US did? I get that these were US missiles, fired by agreement (and surely with US targeting help), so both are complict. But the proximate actor here is Israel, not the US.
