Why American Jews No Longer Understand One Another
Podcast Episode Β· The Ezra Klein Show Β· 07/23/2025 Β· 24m
A staggeringly thoughtful and balanced podcast episode by @ezraklein.bsky.social "Why American Jews No Longer Understand One Another" which is worth 24 minutes of anyone's time. I wonder to what extent these "family feuds" also happen among British Jews. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...

1/n Itβs been a long week, and we're only halfway, so here is a fun story of how new classical macroeconomics came to France - not the whole story, but part of the fabric of how economic ideas do travel
As any 1980s French story, it involves postmodernism, art, fashion & nudes (and macro)

For theory, I always thought that the story on how the proof was found is much more valuable than the super optimized backward engineered final version of it which, most of the time, kills the intuition but "looks impressive", I would love to see more on this in small "sketch" paragraphs

model of firm dynamics where the key decision for a firm is whether or not to switch from a current supplier to a newly arrived supplier. This turns out to be tractable because the model is constructed so marginal costs of the firms follow a random walk. Model can explain LOTS of facts about firms!
