Thankfully, I don’t feel this way about stylized art anymore. I wasn't able to articulate it before, but there is a lot of skill that goes into stylized art: posing, perspective, exaggeration, composition, lighting, colour, silhouette, etc. I want to get better at drawing dynamic shapes!

If I told my younger self I was going to try using screentones, my reaction would’ve been, “WTF, NO.” My initial aversion to stylized art came from the stigma against cartoons; I felt like I had to draw realistically to be taken seriously.
