That sounds manageable. During my military service 25 years ago I got the thoroughest background check possible here (German "Ü3"). Later I wrote my thesis at a defence company - also required checks, but lowest (Ü1). They were quite shocked when they saw my clearance was waaay higher than theirs 😂

BOTW yeah. Skyrim hell yes. Even Cyberpunk is cozy. TOTK freaks me out with all the device construction stuff - I have no clue why but it's terrible for me.
I love Stardew Valley though.

Depends on the amount of PV. I'll get a slightly oversized solar system. Will get the house cool, run my computer equipment, charge the house battery, my smart car and probably will still be able to feed the net on a normal sunny day. Net profit throughout.

Our small pack had a great afternoon in the woods.

After that first level there's a much lower amount, that just barely keeps you going. So the incentive is to find sth. new fast.
But it allows you to carefully select and also reject a job offer if you're not really sure it fits you. No need to take any offer or the first no matter how bad it is.

It's complicated. That's why I only get payed out a bit more than just half my actual salary as these percentages go *directly* into social security, health insurance, taxes...
But that means if stuff goes sideways, I don't worry.

And of course, there's that percentage of your salary that you have yo pay into that insurance system by law. And the employer has to pay that same amount too on top of your salary to the system..

Of course you have to apply for that ASAP when you're let go, and you have to prove that you are actively looking for new jobs in that period, but yeah, that's our social security net that prevents you from falling too deep and losing everything.

There are some preconditions. You must have had a job (or consecutive jobs) for at least 12 months within the last 30 months, and these jobs must not be mini-jobs (which don't pay in the insurance), but yes, the insurance will pay you the 60% for up to a year until you find another job.

Ah, that makes sense. Well partially. As a German, we have the Arbeitslosenversicherung (mandatory state-carried insurance against loss of your job). This will cover 60% of your last salary for up to a year.
Minus the first 12 weeks if you did quit yourself and weren't fired.

Oh, and of course a planned sabbatical means you keep your job, as your employer keeps the money and pays you the saved money during your sabbatical as if you would have looooong paid vacations.

Back in my days that was called sabbatical. The usual model was saving up a certain percentage of your salary for a few years to be able to fund your months of time off. And vacation... Well, there's a reason that European work laws require a certain amount of paid leave per year.

Ich hoffe über den nächsten Winter bekomme ich auch eine schöne Split-Anlage. Kühl im Sommer, Warm im Winter, und das ganze hoffentlich noch mit sinnvoller Förderung
