Wait — 45 days for killing someone in a crosswalk?
120 would have been the max???
There are people serving longer sentences for drug possession.
AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 reports that @ddotdc.bsky.social is going to terminate DC Streetcar service by March 2026.
Nearly 2,500 people ride the streetcar every day. Buses along the corridor are already at capacity.
This is yet another broken promise to transit-dependent residents.

Donald Trump illegally took military action against Iran—without congressional authorization—risking dragging us into another endless war.
I am calling for an immediate emergency session of Congress to vote on the War Powers Resolution.
And the west launches “preemptive” strikes whereas our adversaries launch “unprovoked” strikes.

Tf are you talking about?
US has been boxing Iran in since 1953 when they overthrew their democratically elected prime minister.
The shah was a dictator too.
I thought it was an incredible too — until I saw the schedules. Weekday only service is inexcusable.
This is a bait-and-switch.
I followed plans for years. Never saw weekday-only plans.
Look at maps from just last year. All indications have been a weekend connection from East Cap to Florida Ave.
If you think going from what was advertised for Ward 7 in 2024 to the 2025 implementation is transparent + equitable then I don’t know what to say.
I hope WMATA can find a way to make this right.
The routes could be transformative for many, but only with regular hours. Otherwise it’s a downgrade.
I think “equity” may not have been appropriately incorporated into your teams data-driven process if you thought it was okay to present the 96 replacements as regular hours and then pull the rug out at the last minute.
No one would have supported these plans if you all had been transparent.

A picture of the new D2X bus route from East Capitol to H street with its hours. No operation on weekend or evenings.
A picture of the new C57 bus route from East Capitol to U street with its hours. No operation on weekend or evenings.
Shocked that the 96 replacements won’t run on weekends or evenings.
The 96 was cross-city route that many EOTR residents relied on for weekend and evening service.
Ward 7 never got its promised circulator, never got the DC Streetcar, and is now losing weekend cross-city bus service.
D2X and C57.
Thanks I will keep this in mind while I’m waiting 20 minutes in the cold for my transfer ghost bus that never shows up.
I will also give my 75 year old father-in-law a heads up that all he needs to do is stand up, sit down, and climb the curb a few more times every trip and everything will be okay.
I’m not sure where you live.
But residents EOTR are very transit dependent and removing mobility from EOTR residents should be a priority concern IMO.
That route doesn’t really fill in the gap left by the 96 — no bus access to Florida Ave, U street, or upper NJ on weekends or evenings.
I have seen countless service industry workers and patrons ride late night buses from there to East Cap EOTR.
And now DC has cancelled the streetcar extension.
Those are very different routes and do not fill the gap left by the 96.

Whenever I see a person with their grocery trolley on the streetcar, I think about how great the design is for that kind of errand. I think about people driving less and doing short commutes more. And then I get so angry that this is not a priority.

The streetcar has been planned & promised for over 20 years. It’s long past due for DC to make good on its promise.
This ‘next generation streetcar’ suggested by the mayor sounds like another future broken promise. From one grand idea to another.
We don’t need more reimagining. We need execution.

I think the commanders should come back to RFK.
I also think it's fine for a limited amount of DC dollars to go towards developing it.
But elements of the proposed project are inconsistent with the types of developments DC dollars should go towards.
Public dollars for parking garages in 2025???
