16.02.2026 13:30 β π 37 π 18 π¬ 0 π 0An old fireplace ruin covered in mossy plant growth with the shape of the hearth at the back. There were no walls left!
Rob Roy and his families gravestones. There are 3 main stones flat on the ground and an upright tombstone enscribed MacGregor despite them. There is an iron railing installed around the stones which visitors have tied ribbons to. They have also left coins and other small tokens on top of the grave (including a small bottle containing 55% whisky).
Ruins of the original Kirk with a bench in the foreground and a tomb. Tall trees (yew?) stand behind the remaining wall and in the background on the right stands the current Kirk of Balquhidder.
It was one of those walks that had a bit of everything! This walk finished with a bit of history. We passed an old fireplace with enough of the ruin left to image it being used and wonder who lived there. More info in the alt text about Rob Roys grave.

Strange blobular ice formations in a grape like structure. There are some ice 'fingers' at the bottom of the formation.
It was a cold hike around zero degrees but with some impressive icicles on the hill along with some very weird ice blobcicles π
15.02.2026 21:35 β π 46 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0A winter scene of snow and hills with a giant rock on the right. It has a snow covered side but with what looks like a funny face!
Mountains in snow, with a distance peak topped with fluffy clouds.
A colour photo of a black and white scene! Photo of a lochan with a coating of ice and reflection of sunlight on the surface.
The other side of the huge stone which appears to have fallen from the crag on the right of the photo. The stone has several pine trees growing on the top, presumably safe from the deer!
Pics from yesterdays walk to see Rob Roy's putting stone. I didnt notice the face on the stone until later! The stone is massive (house sized) which unfortunately is hard to tell without any people beside it for scale! #scotland #trossachs #RobRoy
