I’ll be there! It’s been some time since I visited NC, so it’s a good reason for drive up.
See you!

Oh, damn!! 💞 It’s very good, I needed it in these trying times.
Thank you for pointing at the things that actually matter. Love you, J.
I followed it back then and kept tabs on the case since: my “impression” is that what happened ranges from: 1) he was trying to order the hit to 2) undercover agents were trying to get hired for the hit by him
He’s not a hero; hell, he’s not even a good person, but 11 years is more than enough
yup, agreed.

Yes, there are multiple “narrow focus” foundations we are getting extra $ from, but it’s order of magnitude less than NIH.
In my case we are talking about ~$1^6 per year/project for R01 vs ~$100k per year/project for St.Balderick’s or Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
Treating cancer in kids (especially in infants) is infinitely more complicated: you can’t just “kill all actively dividing cells” in the organism where majority of the cells are actively dividing.
For adult it’ll result in loosing hair.
In infant it’ll result in loosing the brain.
Sorry for the tone, I don’t mean to sound like an asshole; I’m just stressed.

Also, in order for Merck and Pfizer to “make” mRNA vaccines they needed two decades of the very basic and very boring research from hundreds of groups/labs around the world.
Science do not work the way they show in the movies, there is no single genius that can create break-through cancer drug.
private sector can not and will not fund basic science (stuff that is in the foundation of the treatments, drugs, vaccines etc) it’s too expensive and there is no warranty of the ROI

I spent last two days browsing kitten-puppy-goats videos on bsky.
I’ll get back to the news later, when I have spoons.

I see; the don’t waste any time

but you only need to “moderate” reported content, not all created content, right?
everyone is creating content, anyone can report something, if they think it’s inappropriate, then “jury” review reported content.
Or it doesn’t work this way? (I’m very far from dev-world).
As we all are crazy about one particular duck, I feel like this meme is somewhat appropriate.

Somewhere in Zion Park, I believe.
//just to prove that I was serious about “photography” (on my profile)
It was today that I learned about Brainbow mice: transgenic animals that have colorful fluorescent brain cells.
It may be possible to do the lineage tracing in the brain tumors post treatment/recurrence.
We’ll if it works in a few months.
