Amtrak plans to bring passenger trains to Madison by 2030 After decades of attempts by local leaders to bring back passenger trains, Amtrak is accelerating its plans to extend service to Madison.

4 years is still disappointingly long for a project that will have only the most meager of upgrades to existing infrastructure. But considering how long Madison is been stymied from daily passenger rail service due to Wisconsin Republicans, anything is a win.
