Yup, Yarnia has both a yarn club & a roving club. Some fiber lovers have joined both & now I have to figure out how to consolidate these for some of you bc that was unexpected. I should never ever underestimate fiber lovers. I have learned my lesson. π§Ά
Anyway next month's sneak peek coming soon!

Thank you so much. I was a little worried this colorway wouldn't land and I didn't want to let the couple who are the inspiration down so I'm glad to hear this.

Split image. Left: a skein of yarn in a silvery platinum grey with subtle undertones of pale purple and soft pink, resting on airy fiber. The color appears cool at first glance but shifts gently with light. Right: a late medieval manuscript illustration showing a Black knight on horseback during pilgrimage, wearing light-colored garments and riding through a simple landscape.

For #BlackHistoryMonth, this image reminds us that Black history is also in medieval pilgrimage, devotion, and endurance. Black people traveled. Black people journeyed. Black people were seen and recorded along the road. π§Ά

A hand-knit garment in a soft platinum-grey yarn with subtle undertones of pale lavender and blush pink. The fabric features lace and stockinette sections, highlighting gentle color shifts. A small crocheted heart made from a suri silk blend rests on the garment, its fuzzy halo catching hints of pastel purple, blue, and pink. The overall effect is soft, luminous, and quietly iridescent.
This is a grey w/ memory in it. A grey w/ direction. I made this to go especially well w/ suri silk haze. The halo catches the blush & lavender notes and lifts them just enough to create that pearly, iridescent effect. The heart detail in one of the pics shows it off well.

figures hovering at the edges of history, but participants within it. Pilgrimage, after all, was one of the great engines of movement in the medieval world, & Black travelers are part of that story.

Black pilgrims appear throughout medieval & early modern visual culture moving through sacred landscapes, undertaking devotion, labor, & travel. They're not marginal

The figure at the heart of this colorway is a Black knight shown mid-journey, riding with purpose rather than spectacle. He appears in the late-15th-cent travel account of Arnold von Harffβs travel account, a record of pilgrimage routes,

Thank you. Yes that's the colorway most folks have chosen although The Moor is a solid runner up. The Moor and Crimson Theban are the unlabeled ones in the pic. Red Velvet is labeled.

Today is the last day to get your hands on Feb's monthly yarn or roving colorway: Petals & Presence. The story of our figure of inspiration was one I really enjoyed researching bc she was a little outside my area of expertise. Twas a win win bc I learned so much along the way too! π§Ά

Black love is too often omitted altogether. This image offers something rarer: a moment where freedom allows for gentleness, rest, & affection that doesn't need to perform or explain itself.

While their names are not recorded, the context matters: this is an image of ppl who are no longer enslaved. That freedom is not announced through spectacle or triumph, but through posture & proximity. They sit calmly, touching softly, & their closeness is unguarded. Affection here is not

#BHM Day 14: Warmed Earth Embrace π§Ά
This is a new colorway & perfect to talk abt today as it's rooted in tenderness, freedom, & quiet intimacy. The colorway draws inspiration from Miguel Γngelo Lupi's 1879 painting depicting a formerly enslaved Black couple seated closely together.
