Tjängvide image stone which is from c. 700–900 CE, which is about three kilometers west of Ljugarn, Gotland, Sweden. The stone is decorated with several figures in an upper and a lower field, which are separated by a braided pattern that resembles valknuts. In the upper field, there is a large eight-footed horse and a small rider who is offered a drinking horn by a woman, and there are also some other figures, such as a quadruped animal and some less discernible images. The rider on his horse is usually identified with Odin on his eight-legged horse Sleipnir, or a dead man who is arriving at Valhalla on Odin's horse. The female figure is identified as a valkyrie.

Sleipnir appears on early medieval image stones from Gotland, where he’s shown carrying Odin between worlds. In mythology, this uncanny steed was born from Loki’s shapeshifting trickery & was said to run over land, sea, & even the air, he was the swiftest of all horses, & a bridge between realms.

The colors still work up how I figured (mostly because I wasn't just winging it lol) but the yarn itself goes longer in knitting. I think I am just able to match colors more now, so there are greater combos to create which I hadn't thought about before -- espec with stranded cc work.

Thank you. Oh I have crocheted for years but finally picked up knitting this year so I could be of better use to you crafters by understanding what will work better for hand-dyed yarns.

This was just 2 contrasting colors for one mitten, so for a pair of medium-sized mittens only 4! But I didn't make the fold in cuff, so for those who want the mittens longer, def use 6 (3x3) in total. And that should be enough for a large mitten anyway (minus the cuff ofc).

A gorgeous order of lichen-sage Guardian & St Maurice in fingering/sock yarn. Gorgeous greens from the medieval collection!

mini skein would take me in a mitten. So if you have lots of mini skeins you can get your stash down by doing stranded colorwork mittens like this.

Your first look at Yarnian roving. This request was for a "green palette" so I made it a lil foresty w/ some earthy greens, a dash of emerald & a bit of sage bc the recipient is also a great cook. I showed the pic to the spinning tester & they gasped in delight. My job is done. 🧶
