My brother and I went to prison for taking the life of our abuser. I spent 13 1/2 of a 25 year sentence in Alabama. Made parole and have been pardoned.

They didn’t kill them for the money. My brother and I had 4 months before we were arrested. We had the same mentality they did- FREEDOM

I will have to disagree with you. There are a lot of people who escape their abusers like this. Look at Cyntoia Brown Long, Chrysal Kizer, Sara Kruzan, Jarret Harper, the Garlock Brothers, etc.

They did it to escape the abuse. All trauma responses

How should they have handled it? In 1989, they would be accusing a rich person of sexually abusing them. How would that have turned out? They were fearful for their lives and escaped the abuse. I believe them Wholeheartedly!!!!

Why would you say that? They had been abused for years and committed the murders to escape. Have you experienced what they did????

I always thought that habitual offender laws and three strikes laws emerged in the 1990s as part of the tough-on-crime era. But then I was looking through old state codes and I saw a three strikes law from 1923. Then I found dozens from around this time, and wondered (naively) what was going on.
