So sorry there’s no new Homebrew Horrorthon this year (still struggling to do stuff after losing Melissa), but if you need some creepy Electronica tonight you can find all 5 previous Halloween shows on Mixcloud, so head there and dive into the darkness πŸŽƒ πŸ‘» www.mixcloud.com/homebrewelec...

Isn't it more like leftovers? You've cooked more food than you can eat in one go so you're saving it to have later.

This thread is great, if only for the phrase "vagina-compatible bullets".

Maybe Summer and Cinnamon were the names of two strippers.

Genuinely surprised that something utterly partisan - and seemingly written by a 12 year old - is on a government website.

An image with four items and a description of how to set the clock back. Smartphone: leave it alone, it dies its magic. Sundial: move over house to the left. Oven: you'll need a Masters in Electronic Engineering or a hammer. Car radio: not worth it, wait six months.

With the clocks going back tonight, here's something which might help you in the morning.

They should also show what it'll look like in a decade after having no maintenance or cleaning done to its exterior.

32! Ouch. Only time I made a password that long was for a remote account for a supplier who was annoying to deal with. I made the project manager read it out to them over the phone as email "wasn't secure enough".

I've worked in both and my experience has been the opposite. Public sector was "yeah, no problem, stick it in your calendar and give us a shout when your back"; while private was more "hmm, well if you really have to then you can book the time off from your holiday allowance'

The recording continues. 47 tracks so far. Just for the shoebox with somewhere in the region of around 170 disks left to go through. Some will be duplicates and some just samples, but this is still a *big* piece of work. Then I need to edit and master them all. Might be done by Christmas...

Nonsense. I'm going to use my Trumpcoins to buy a big house. Oh, now it'll have to be a normal sized house. Hang on, now it's a small house. Wait, now it's the deposit on a small house. The deposit to rent a tiny, rundown flat. Ah, I might be able to afford a picture of a house.

Getting *something* to market as fast as possible has been the mantra for so long that I doubt there's many developers now who have the ability to optimise their work sufficiently for those specs. A career of time crunch has led to an over-reliance on frameworks and code that's "good enough".

If you have access to ITVX, they're now showing the Space Live channel. 24/7 (I think) feed from cameras on the International Space Station looking down to Earth.

That's entirely by design. If you can't see other people having the same problem then it's less likely you'll think their product a steaming pile of manure.

It's good I've watched this at home and not out in public. The steam of profanity I've just uttered hearing what happened to Chop would've made a steel worker blush. These people are pure evil mixed with abject cowardice. I'm not sure we're even the same species as these people.

I get YouTube shorts of people basically speed-running making a track. As if the speed it's written is in some way linked to how good the track is going to be. "I wrote a 2-bar techno loop in only 42 seconds!" Ok, good for you.

I've worked in IT for what feels like several lifetime, so I'm well aware of the stupid UI tricks that developers come up with. Couldn't find one for this widget. It was probably based on a correlation between my GPS coordinates, compass bearings and accelerometer to open the year box.

The Virgin credit card app is awful for this. The date widget is so badly written that you can only navigate one month at a time. What epic gobshite decided that was a good idea and was in any way suitable for a customer app?

Capita fined Β£14m for cyber-attack which affected millions The outsourcing giant accepted liability, after the data watchdog said they failed to protect client data.

Capita fined Β£14m for a data breach that saw 6.6m people have their details stolen. That's Β£2.12 per person. Good to know that the ICO values our personal data less than a supermarket sandwich. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It's often said by open source proponents "if you don't like something you can get the source and change it". A nice idea but John from accounts isn't downloading the Libre Office source and swapping around the "ok" and "cancel" buttons because he likes them the other way round.

Communities may make decisions, but how many of those individuals are actually delving into the code to make changes? This notion that anyone can just get the source and on their own make their own changes just isn't realistic. Theoretical, yes. Actually happens, fantastically rare.

While that's a nice idea on theory, it just doesn't work in reality. Realistically, how many people have the skills to change the UI elements - or anything else - in a piece of open source software?

It's 2025. Surely we can come up with something better than Bluetooth audio. Got a pair of - admittedly cheap - bone conducting headphones for when I'm out and about. Problem is that they constantly drop audio when I'm outside. Perfectly fine indoors. Must be afraid of sunlight or something.
