I think eating disorders are fucking serious. They are and joking about it isn’t cool. This isn’t ur fight to fight this should be for Adam and again the harassment you face as a trans woman just for breathing is BULLSHIT.

Binge eating is also a part of bulimia where people will starve themselves, then impulsively eat a lot all at once because they’re of course starving, and then throw it up— which is VERY VERY similar to what we see in the episode

Also I will say a panty and stocking episode from two decades ago should NOT be where the bar is set lol

I get that, although I think its a bit cruel to shut out a large group of fans who are also human beings with feelings, I also know how awful people there are. I just think the whole “it’s just a funny gay object show!” when the show can be so deep and thoughtful just looks like a silly thing to do.

They could’ve left out the binging remark. As a kid I also was influenced myself by cartoons with similar “humor” towards anger issues (smth I love how ii handles!!), kids aren’t stupid and deserve thoughtful content. People CARE about this show Jazzy, it can be a very serious and deep show!

Again it totally sucks people are bothering you I’m sorry, but heres what my girlfriend, a causal viewer who DOESN’T think the show is “that deep” has to say. I can’t say it any better.
It IS serious. Is it the end of the world? No of course not! But it is a serious topic and it does impact viewers.

People care about this show, it means things to people and it does handle heavy topics with grace and care, I love how II has handled its portrayal of disability! Fans speak up cuz they KNOW the show can be better than this. Sorry to yap so much, but it’s cuz I care! It IS deep and it does matter!

There’s of course bigger issues and II making a small joke about it isn’t the BIGGEST issue in the whole world lol, but it also just isn’t necessary to include and it weirded a lot of viewers out, so why include jokes about something like that?

It would suck just as much for a “goofy object cartoon” to make fun of characters suffering from ableism or transphobia— stuff that used to be in II but thankfully has improved. Joking about women suffering from misogynistic ideas isn’t cool either :/

Obviously that’s not your problem to handle and people targeting you about it is mad weird too, this is criticism for Adam and his writing of the episode, but I think it also sucks that alot of fans with eating disorders are having to speak up in discomfort, and that shouldn’t be brushed off.

Hey Jazzy! I’m sorry to hear people were bugging you about something that isn’t your responsibility, that’s bs, but I gotta comment to say that the issue with the joke is the use of “oh no we binged” and how it’s directly mocking of diet culture and binge eating. It just comes across mean-spirited
