Excited to share that our team — Nikki Lobczowski, Jason Harley, & I — received CFI JELF funding ($930k) to build research infrastructure at McGill for testing how technology actually affects learning, emotion, & collaboration.

Not the first and definitely not the last! This perfectly encapsulates your mentorship and values. You always put students first and create a safe space for uniqueness and self-discovery. I’m so lucky to have seen this firsthand, and hope that I’m passing this down to my own students! 🥰

Join a writing group (or two). It helps improve social accountability while combatting isolation (two of the hardest parts of completing the dissertation IMO).

Thank you for this! I love the colors. I now just need a detailed list of all the activities. I always seem to forget something or create something so detailed it’s scary. Trying to find a good middle ground to both stay organized and train my students! 🫠

Does anyone have a good Gantt chart (or something similar) for tracking research projects (or a good program with built-in examples)? I have a couple that aren’t quite detailed enough and I figured I would check here before spending too much time creating a new one. Thanks in advance!

Ugh I hate that I missed the deadline! This could be really good.

It’s that time of year again when I wonder why we don’t just have pride-themed stuff all year. 1) who doesn’t love rainbows? 2) who doesn’t love love? Let’s start celebrating everyone every day rather than one month a year (same for black, women’s, indigenous groups, etc.)

2/5 presenters at every session I attended were absent at AERA2025 due to the unsafe nature of travel for foreign academics.

Not offering a hybrid format is failing to recognize reality. AERA cannot be a venue for international scholarship when international schoolers can’t attend without fear.

Really needed to recharge and reconnect and #AERA2025 helped me do just that. 🥰

In the last week, my first dissertating student passed his defense, my first lab paper was submitted, my sister finished her last chemo, and my students’ proposals for an upcoming grant received positive feedback from outside experts. Heading into reading week with a lot of excitement and gratitude.

Wherever you go, get the Pittsburgh salad!

It was AWESOME! I think splitting up the lab groups was also really helpful. I know I learned just as much from them!

Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out.

Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation.

Say equity, which a just society should pursue.

Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

Just make sure to add a piece of pie today! 😉
