It was recorded in 1962 by Rudy Van Gelder for Blue Note. It introduced “Watermelon Man”. This is an excellent hard bop album, each track is a gem. #jazzsky

#LunchtimeLP Ron Carter, Art Farmer – Live At Sweet Basil with Cedar Walton and Billy Higgins released on Arkadia records in 2024 was originally released on laserdisk in Japan in 1991. This album has all originals and one standard, "My funny Valentine". Great performances all around. #jazzsky

#LunchtimeLP Workout by Hank Mobley with Grant Green, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones was recorded on March 16th, 1961 by Rudy Van Gelder for Blue Note records. It's a smoking hard bop album featuring some of the era's best practitioners including a solid rhythm section. #jazzsky

#LunchtimeLP Bobby hutcherson's Happenings was recorded 60 years ago today with Herbie Hancock, Bob Cranshaw, and Joe Chambers. The final track "Omen" is a percussive extravaganza, at one point Hutchinson and Chambers reverse rolls with the Chambers playing marimba and Hutchinson on drums. #jazzsky
