A colleague of mine dealt with a client who almost upended their portfolio because of what an AI suggested about an email. Luckily, my peer was able to undo the damage, but if that client's family member had not suggested they check with us, it would have costed them 5 figures of harm, at least.

At least twice a month I get someone calling into my job panicking because of "something in one of your emails" only to discover that it's either routine stuff/actual good news. The culprit is always the clients not reading the email but letting an AI hallucinate what it thinks the email is about.

Because people keep talking about this and I elaborated privately, I will elaborate publicly as to why this was happening. For reference, I am an accountant and I deal with property tax, rent, and other processes like this at my job. Not here to state the right and wrong, just the accounting. (1/?)

The "Rightstuf" warehouse has been listed up for sale for about $5.7 Million

โ€ข This confirms that Crunchyroll has been leasing the building for $460,625 per year and never "acquired" the warehouse during the acquisition

โ€ข Their lease is up for renewal in 2030

And I'm like "oh boy, the hell is this?" And it's literally the rarest books in Japanese American history.

Y'all, this is unreal. This is basically a census record of Japanese people in America before the war, painstakingly organized by Japanese immigrants trying to record history in like the 1920-1940s, I'm fucking losing it on how amazing to read over these records for myself.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complexโ€”Season 1
Presented in both the original and English-dubbed versions
Of the myriad adaptations of the foundational cyberpunk manga Ghost in the Shell, the animated TV series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex arguably comes closest to capturing the breadth, vision, and thematic complexity of the original. The twenty-six-episode first season unfolds as a riveting science-fiction crime procedural, following the members of the specialized police unit known as Public Security Section 9 as they investigate high-profile cyberterrorism incidents in a future where humans have increasingly become cybernetic hybrids. Their work ultimately leads them into the case of the Laughing Man, an elusive hacktivist whose attempts to expose a vast web of corporate and political corruption threaten to destabilize powerful institutions. Combining sleek visuals with provocative themes surrounding the dissolving boundaries between humans and technology, Stand Alone Complex remains a thrilling high point in the art of anime: absorbing, intelligent, and often unsettlingly prescient.

I'll allow for a quick overview of the plot to start or reviews of very particular plot points relating to an argument if they're minor, easily forgettable things. If, however, I'm 2-3 minutes into reading or watching something and it's still just plot beats, my interest wanes precipitously.

Years back in Fukuoka, there was a sign at a taiyaki stand that read something like "We take pride in our hot fish cream pies!". Good translation? No. Funny as hell? Absolutely.

If they like art and gardens, the Nezu Museum is really good fun. If you go on Saturday or Sunday, the United Nations University is nearby and has a lovely farmers' market from late morning to early afternoon. I'm also a sucker for Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.

My mom inherited a very old little cactus from my grandmother when she passed away. It trucked on until we re-potted it and it's doing better than ever. Even more so, there are now like 6-7 cactus pups that have started growing out of the outdoor carpet around where the cactus sits.

Since my evening was free, I decided that I'd start catching up on some of the 2025 anime I'd fallen behind on. I thought I'd watch just a couple more episodes of the second season of "Call of the Night". Three and a half hours have passed and I finished the season; I kept needing the next episode.

I feel this is a daunting task even for someone who has been an industry professional for years. That show just has...a lot going on. Godspeed.

I need nice beautiful Blu-rays so badly for this series. Season 1, season 2, the specials. We only ever got DVD for season 1 (and nothing else). I hope sales of the hardcover Mushishi manga will persuade someone to get on this.

Maybe the stuff from the TV show leaking in is kind of like the Gundam thing where the sequel series look to the movies for general continuity, but something not being in the films doesn't necessarily mean it never existed/happened.

I don't know if it's been brought up yet, but the Big O's piston arm is monumentally cool as well.

As a mecha person, I adore the Unicorn Gundam's Beam Magnum. It doesn't have a regular e-pac- the in-universe term for the beam weapon magazines - because every shot is so strong that it depletes an entire e-pac. As a result, it's magazine is a big stack of e-pacs. It's an astonishingly cool weapon.
