absolutely heartbreaking. a lot of headlines initially described this as a "dispute with a neighbor", obviously that's not accurate

May was a wild month! Despite having 5 dnfs (mostly due to not vibing with the style/tone of writing), I had a really good reading month overall so here is my wrap up πŸ™‚

Grimoire Girl was interesting and I like the idea of it as leaving a legacy, wondering if anyone else has read it??

Every day that this horror continues, I think of Omar El Akkad's tweet: "One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this."

How about some SFF Book Recommendations for Mental Health Awareness Month because Mental Health representation matters, and sometimes it is within the most fantastical of pages that we feel the most understood! What are some of your favorite books with MH rep?

Seriously, do not buy, stream, or otherwise support of promote more Harry Potter bullshit. It is no longer theoretical - Rowling is funelling those wizard bucks into getting the law changed to actively oppress an already-vulnerable minority.

RFK Jr. Says Don’t Take Medical Advice From Him, But He’d β€˜Probably’ Vaccinate His Kids For Measles Kennedy has long been skeptical of vaccinations and repeatedly made false claims that vaccines cause autism.

Oh now he tells y’all?? After spreading lies and conspiracy theories, RFK Jr. says don’t listen to his adviceβ€”as head of HHS. Sir, we already knew. We were just waiting on you to admit you’re unqualified.

I’ve made this point consistently throughout the years, but it bears repeating as Pride Month approaches:

It is not enough to post about books by queer authors; if you have the means, you actually have to buy those books and/or check them out of the library.

Support ideas AND livelihoods.

SFF Mommies to Celebrate Mothers Day

Amina, Tunuva & Esbar, Essun, and Sidra. These amazing moms just so happen to be some of my favorite characters, period. The fact that they are moms and many are between the age of 30-50 is a PLUS. These moms would do whatever it takes for their babies! #booksky

A social media post featuring two tweets. The first tweet by Anne Applebaum states that every book published in the United States is sent to the Library of Congress, and mentions age restrictions for using the reading room. The second tweet from Acyn quotes a reporter asking why the president fired the Librarian of Congress, followed by a response addressing concerns about actions taken regarding the library and children’s books. The background includes the White House press briefing setting with a lectern and flags.

Strike 2 Cont: I like how my current case looks, it’s like a little composition notebook. But even though it is made for the Nook Glowlight 4 it presses on its front button to wake it up all the time and drains the battery even faster than it was already!

Anyway, thank you for coming to my rant πŸ˜‚

Strike 2: this is a little silly but it’s important to me!!! Lack of case options. There’s a handful of options, most not my style, and there’s not an option at all for a clear case without a cover. (Like the ones I see of people putting stickers inside)
