if theres one thing i can see oda doing with the cross guild besides the zoro-mihawk duel, it has to be something like this. i also cannot deny how much i would enjoy seeing mihawk win and sengoku lose, but i still see narrative merit outside of it.

One Piece Chapter 1166. Sengoku tells Garp that "When I noticed that the upper management is doing something insane... I can just look the other way."

One Piece Chapter 234. Sengoku's introductory chapter features him meeting with the Warlords of the Sea. Funnily enough, Mihawk shows up at the end of this page.

as the dawn approaches the world of one piece, the old guard who stood for compromise and hypocrisy must be torn down. i mean, how ironic would it be for sengoku to be defeated by a former warlord?

Mihawk's bounty from Chapter 1058. It's $3.359 Billion Berries. 3 can be read as San 5 can be read as Go 9 can be read as Ku Sangoku. Sengoku.

there's also the theory that mihawk's bounty was hinting to this? would be a cool hint ontop of it but i thought it was interesting.

One Piece Chapter 572. Whitebeard orders his crew to escape Marineford, letting himself be the one to die to bring in the new era. He says himself "Don't turn back. A new age is coming!" and "It's been a long journey. Let's finish this once and for all, navy!" And ywould you look at that, Sengoku is right there, too!

... it gives perfect setup for a potential marine split, giving akainu and koby more opportunity for screen time. and it would be a nice bow on the trend of sunsetting the old legends during rogers' era.

this one event would do a ton of things for the story. it gives the cross guild some hype, it gives mihawk's title more merit, it gives sengoku an opportunity to prove himself on the way out, ...

One Piece Chapter 1058. Same page from before where Crocodile mentioned Mihawk's past as the "Naval Hunter". Perfect setup to payoff naming this title, and then giving him a top tier feat by killing the former Fleet Admiral of the Navy.

unlike the blackbeard pirates, who captured koby and garp to make major moves, the cross guild takes the life of sengoku here. killing a former fleet admiral makes their presence in the world even crazier than capturing garp the hero.

maybe this time can be used to give insight into mihawks backstory but its not 100% needed. regardless, this clash should be eerily quick. maybe sengoku's shockwave attack makes a HUGE spectacle, but let the fight prove what makes the cross guild an emperor crew.

One Piece Chapter 956. Similar scenario to when the Warlord system was dissolved and the Marines sent a fleet after Buggy.

One Piece Chapter 553. Mihawk steps up to bat in Marineford, reading his sword to measure Whitebeard and his crew. Doflamingo doesn't have to be here but I find it funny that Moria and Doffy (both characters potentially being future Cross Guild Members) are in this shot.

when things look dire, and many of the cross guild lackeys begin to beg for buggy to save them (and buggy looking like hes going to run away), let mihawk enter the fray.

One Piece Chapter 1087. The Hachinsou Raid was presented as the Marines as the underdogs fighting their way through emperor territory. I'd see this battle as the opposite; Lackeys in their own territory on the backfoot from a Marine onslaught.

this battle should feel like a parallel to the hachinsou raid. the only difference is that the odds look to be in the marines favor, not the pirates.

how the actual battle will go is up in the air. maybe crocodile fights first and gets some good feats against the former fleet admiral. maybe a new cross guild member joins in on the fray. depends on what oda sets up.

One Piece Chapter 1080. Garp arrives at Hachinsou in an explosive fashion, opening with a powerful conqueror's attack, "GALAXY IMPACT!!"

One Piece Chapter 563. After Squard was tricked into stabbing Whitebeard, Whitebeard himself says: "You're as cunning as ever, Sengoku". I expect Sengoku's battle will seem much more smarter and thought-out than Garp's brash decisions. The question is, will Sengoku's pay off?

this siege will be the opposite of garp's attack on hachinsou. instead of an explosive enterance like garp, this attack will be used to showcase sengokus battle tactics and expertise. it will also showcase the cross guild's lack of manpower, with most of their combatants being easily defeated.

One Piece Chapter 957. They weren't even fighting here but I see it as a cool panel.

akainu will be in direct opposition to this. he'll try to command sengoku to stand down and wait for his instructions, but sengoku's pride will blind him. as former fleet admiral, no one will doubt sengokus plans even if it wasn't the right one.

One Piece Chapter 1082. Yes I'm using the same screencap again but I made sure to include the previous panel with it, where he says "If this was his goal [setting up marines to be killed by desperate bounty hunters], then we've sorely overlooked the genius jester".

but enough preamble, lets get to the main prediction: after the vegapunk incident and garp's capture, i think sengoku will use the cross guild as an opportunity to build confidence back in the marines. he already has a vendetta, but the recent fears might push him to act now.

One Piece Chapter 1058. Crocodile, in a call with Mihawk, reveals that Mihawk was once known as the "Naval Hunter".

oda gave mihawk the title of "the marine hunter" in his past. he didn't bring it up in his introduction, marineford, or any time before recently. only after introducing the cross guild.

One Piece Chapter 1082. Sengoku says, after reading that T-Bone was killed: "We need to strike down the Cross Guild -- the sooner, the better. They'll sap the morale of the troops and weaken the navy!!" This is my smoking gun, here. Why would Oda show Sengoku saying this if he doesn't plan on doing something with it?

i believe oda has planted the seeds for this conflict since the cross guild's introduction. the most obvious being chapter 1082, but also in the direct conflict between the marines and cross guild. it's leading up to something.

One Piece Chapter 1082. The reveal that T-Bone (the Vice Admiral who attacked the Straw Hats during Water 7 / Marineford died offscreen to a desperate, poor man.

One Piece Chapter 20. Luffy kicks Buggy in the nuts.

One Piece Chapter 211. Crocodile defeated by Luffy. I'm being a bit hyperbolic here, since I'm definitely someone who thinks Crocodile has gotten MUCH stronger since this encounter, but this is really all we have to work with right now. I'm just getting across that Oda hasn't given them the time to do it yet.

the cross guild similarly sticks out from the other emperors, as their biggest feat so far is influencing someone to kill t-bone. the big three is composed of buggy (fraud), crocodile (lost to a rookie luffy), and mihawk (no major feats yet).

One Piece Chapter 434. Whitebeard reminisces on how much has changed since Roger's era, saying: "Roger, Garp, Sengoku... There aren't many people left who remember the ocean the way it used to be."

in an era where roger and whitebeard are dead, and garp is locked up in hachinsou, sengoku kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. the only 'living legend' that hasnt really showcased anything yet.

two years ago i was so happy a studio like RGG existed since they made such good games at such a fast pace that it was a breath of fresh air, as most games take ~5 years to release now.
to see RGG bury their good will deeper and deeper like this is depressing. no company is safe.

One Piece Chapter 1171. Imu reveals that "ELBAF IS OF THE D." We knew there were Giants with the D (Saul), but this is reminding me of the theory that the Kozuki Clan, or atleast one member of it, is also apart of the D clan but doesn't carry the initial. Also the fact that the Nefertari family are as well, but they purposefully hid it.

also i cannot wait to see how many members of the D clan there are by the end of the series.

One Piece Chapter 1171. We now return to the present day, after 19 chapters, to Loki, the New Giant Warrior Pirates, Gaban and the Straw Hats.

looks like i was wrong about showing lokis relationship with lola and everything. i was kinda hoping oda would reveal that loki was an emperor before shanks.
not 100% disproven but idk when else oda would showcase it.
