Playing the charisma based double dealer for once instead of a super nerd is being so rewarding right now actually.

And plus, the mutual respect he earned talking to this artificer ended up getting him to spill some secrets as to how the governor was spying on people since he used some of those things as an example to prove his point. An excellent bargain, I'd say.

and it WORKED, I baited that man into roleplaying a philosophical discussion for 20 minutes, and the realization he just got played into engaging hitting him in real time was so satisfying. He even hit me with the 'well played' as I sat there like the cat who got the cream.

And I specifically bated the artificer to go into the reasons and minutae as to why, or at least how he'd fix wizards/more learned casters maintaining their practice to said party member. Knowing the party member (as an arcanist, and a stuck up one) would have something to say about it.
