So what even is the alternative to VLC these days
The last time I asked that question someone suggested an even more dated program lol
(I'm not even against humorous references to jizz, I still occasionally jokingly call em "skeets", this is a different case of trying to sound fancy for language floweriness that just kinda fails at that IMO)

I'm all for use of a bit of Latin here and there but I think we can retire the X-cum-Y outside of full Latin terms like magna cum laude.
It's one fewer keystroke than "with", a far more understood term, and doesn't induce a double take over whether you said something lewd on purpose or not.
If translation *alone* took six months, the pay rate would be so huge, it'd eclipse the golden years of the 90s and every manga translator I know wouldn't be juggling 10+ series. But no, it's one of the quickest, cheapest parts, for worse and for worse. You're drawing blood out of a stone, dinguses.

It's definitely a vibes thing. I believe Rammstein generally doesn't like to talk in between their songs much. Their in-betweens of songs, when they aren't just quiet are...unique.
Can also depend a bit on the tuning of their songs, styles that necessitate less of that need less filler lol
It is sort of dependent on the music itself, but like there's many ways to deal with it. The band I mentioned here for example, Mono, has a couple tunes where the intro isn't played on something that needs to worry about that, either keyboards or a xylophone.
youtu.be/4bpj_khxeVM?...
I still talk considerably highly of when I saw Mono, a band I'd never heard of who spoke maybe 20 total words over the course of an hourlong set, who played all instrumentals and let the music do all the talking. It was among the most transcendent experiences I've ever had with music.
02.03.2026 05:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Many people like more audience engagement from musicians, but honestly I think the act of going up there, saying a few words, and letting the music do the talking is underrated and can be extremely effective with the right kinds of music.

01.03.2026 09:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

The fuck you mean they called it Epic Fury
Now it's completely pathetic for a different reason, that was like the punchline to fucking rage comics circa 2009 wtf
The thing is Pikachu wasn't the original mascot for the games. That happened down the line. It was kind of already set up for the west via the anime, but in Japan the anime didn't begin until a year later when they did make that call to have Satoshi/Ash get one.

It would not shock me if a picture like this has circulated in at least one gamedev Slack before with zero irony

Tehran, and the country by extension, has its beautiful parts and a great many people who at minimum are not a monolith. People with families, ambitions, and love.
They don't deserve to suffer from a weird, octogenarian loser creep perpetuating the forever war. Nor did those of Venezuela. Fuck off.
I remember way back in the early days of Facebook I inadvertedly followed a Facebook page of secularists from Iran. Despite needing to be anonymous for their own safety due to heresy laws, an aspect I distinctly remember them stressing is that the west badly mischaracterizes the country's people.

Yup, and even less charisma
Which is funny because Clefairy arguably has more protagonist evergy given that thing was a jack with a billion different moves it could learn in a gen barely anything could claim that
Also I dont recall Clefable on *any* NPC teams. At least Raichu is on a gym leader's!
Pikachu becoming Pokemon's mascot is honestly rather peculiar when you think about it. Not a lot of in-game trainers use it and it's a rather rare Pokemon that only appears in one dungeon. How they even picked it for the anime is surprising.
