If you have that fear, that’s normal and you’re not alone. Also remember, there is basically no serious illness that isn’t less serious if you catch it sooner.

If you want to verify this, as a woman of color I will leave it to you to do the research & feel free to share the receipts in comments. I have done the research before & will surely continue to do it, but unless you’re paying me, or supporting my family to thrive in life—you can do it for yourself.

There’s proven substantial research out there that if your being treated by a woman, more so if it’s a woman of color, & even more so if it’s a surgeon, the likelihood of living through the treatment & experiencing positive recovery of health is much much higher than their counterparts.

I love how much my dog loves my kiddo. She always lays either right by his bed or right outside his door when he goes to sleep. She protec her small human.

You are allowed to feel joy.

Yes, even now.

Joy is resistance.

Even more so when they teach them about consent and respect for themselves and each other.

Nothing more optimistic and empowering than kiddos learning martial arts.
