It would be much more productive if NPR ran a story about how the rise in pedestrian deaths is actually a policy and infrastructure failure unique to the US.

The implicit argument here, that pedestrians and cyclists are at fault for their own deaths, is REALLY problematic. So many people are killed in crosswalks and sidewalks, if they even exist! I'm sorry, but wearing a helmet will not save you if a 6,000 lb. SUV blows a red light!

Something similar happened to me in 2021, but luckily I was able to show proof-of-payment by logging into my banking app. The experience made me switch back to using a MetroCard though. I don't have faith this will get resolved until MetroCard is fully phased out.

Had to see how sad the mayor's campaign website is and honestly @hellgatenyc.com doesn't do it justice. I can't get over that the sitting mayor of NYC doesn't have a policy platform or a vision for the future of the city. Doesn't even list his accomplishments in office! Amazing stuff
