In Utah, an 18-year-old can’t legally buy a beer but in 2025, Utah passes HB 128 to allow students to carry a gun into a college classroom. That’s on top of 2021’s “permitless carry.” Now, people of all political stripes mourn a campus shooting that these laws helped make possible.

Just got off a plane from a country with high political extremes but a fraction of the gun violence we have an America. Tragic, horrific way to re-enter our country. We need real laws to take on gun violence in the U.S.
