We lost Prof. Malcolm Bell yesterday. He taught me much about the Ancient Greek city, the importance of cultural repatriation, and ways to be a gentiluomo. May he be enjoying the eternal Sicilian sunset.

Fragment of the face of the head of the bronze Robert E. Lee held over a red-hot furnace, with two foundry workers in protective gear holding the fragment with tongs. Lee's face appears to glow from the head of the furnace.
Well, folks, that's a wrap on the (in)famous Lee Statue of Charlottesville, Virginia! He was pulled down in 2021, and he was finally melted down through the efforts led by Swords Into Plowshares. The bronze will be reused in a new artwork in the future for the community. (Photo: Eze Amos)
