Born on this day in 1786, Unitarian minister and politician William Johnson Fox, who was instrumental in moving the Parliament Court Chapel congregation from its first premises in Bishopsgate to a new home, South Place Chapel, on 1 February 1824.

On This Day in 1824, South Place Chapel officially opened in Finsbury, London. Led by William Johnson Fox, the society occupied this building for the next 102 years and the name was reflected in the Society’s name — South Place Ethical Society.
