I got my kid a visual timer to reduce meltdowns when I turn the tv off (semi-works) but now he has taken to asking me how long it is until tea time, setting the timer and insisting that his meal should ready when it goes off. Whoops.

Generally in the past (in Scotland) I’ve been handed information with links to websites and apps for immediate online help and given lists of local places which offer free/low cost counselling. They have wait lists but not talking years.

Who decided that pregnant people exclusively love striped tops? My vinted algorithm now shows me all striped tops like it’s my preference, like I have a choice! Did someone decide that stripes are ‘flattering’ and that we should have no fun?

Lovely son handed me one of the three advent calendar chocolates that he got this morning. It was the one that had dropped on the floor but well gloss over that…

Very pleased for Maddie Moate and her partner but I’m not sure how I’m going to handle being pregnant at the same time as her - she just seems to have a much sunnier disposition than myself. May have to mute for a bit.

Someone has put tinsel on the Christmas tree and I’m not handling it well.

Maternity tops are basically the length that I’ve been searching for since I became accustomed to it in the 2010s (below the hips), but mostly with overcomplicated unflattering fastenings around the bust which are not necessary yet, though may save money in the long run if breastfeeding works out.

The high winds whipping around our house last night inspired my dreams. #LastNightIDreamt that my car was blown into my house, ploughing the way for many other cars, and their owners. We all cosied up together until someone started rifling through our family photos and documents.

My dream last night was long and weird. #LastNightIDreamt many things but the stand out part was when I passed a nunnery on a hillside, got entranced by their music, and felt drawn to a pond where illusions of babies were crawling perilously close to the waters’s edge. They were tempting me in.

Quite the get up for the chilled drinks aisle.

Could amber be some kind of sleeper cell for the animals rights people? Playing the long game to release the turkeys? #TheArchers

Turned out it had be a ruse and I had won second prize in a poster competition, an hmv voucher, which was awarded to me at the event and then I had to attend a service at the cathedral and reception at the city chambers. First place was a family trip to Norway, quite the step up from a free CD.

This time of year gets me remembering when I was in my early teens and I couldn’t understand why my mum was so keen for us to go to the Christmas lights switch on in town. My brother pointed out that, as I was the youngest, maybe she was feeling sad about us growing up, so I went.

#LastNightIDreamt that I bumped into Hugh Lawrie cycling on the beach prom. But when I spoke to him he was clearly Alan Cumming. I praised his work with Pitlochry festival theatre and explained how he also previously worked with my old work, as did Brian Cox.

People keep asking how I’m doing and I spend so much time explaining that I don’t get morning sickness that I forget to mention the exhaustion, anxiety, painfully dry skin and constant bad taste in my mouth. #pregnancy

I once enjoyed the music in a cocktail bar so much that I asked about it and they burnt me a copy (different times). Turned out it was a Late Night Tales albums of music chosen by my favourite band, Belle & Sebastian.

The father of one of my brother’s friends once explained to him that music at tea time had to be ‘conducive’. Our family has used the word ever since to debate if our soundtrack is suitable.

I thin @cerysmatthews.bsky.social is the only person, other than me, that I have heard play vegetables by the Beach Boys on the radio. Cheered me to hear it!

My son’s friend made me a card when he found out I was pregnant and honestly I couldn’t be more chuffed - more cards should feature a pit of doom.

I met up with a friend at the weekend and it came up in conversation that a few years ago our mutual friend from school (who also happens to be my boyfriend in my dreams at night) got in touch. He is happily married with a kid - so in my dream last night I met his wife and child at an exhibition.
