Love this. And also, since Jesus knew what he was going to do with Lazarus, I think Jesus' grief is also for Martha and Mary. That is, he is deeply moved by *their* grief.

That's comforting to me, too.

Please don't let anyone ever tell you that your grief is a sign of weakness or a lack of trust in God's sovereignty.

Hey y'all. Grief work is good and holy.

Interesting to note that the precursor to arguably Jesus' most amazing miracle (the raising of Lazarus) was Jesus ministering to Martha and Mary in their grief - and, in fact, being moved with grief alongside them.

Before his first run, there were a lot of voices saying “Don’t worry! There will be checks and balances!”

Nobody was saying that before his second run. Because they knew.

BECAUSE THEY KNEW.

Thread by @DrAaronNew on Thread Reader App @DrAaronNew: I have been a vocal critic of how Heath Lambert conducts himself, primarily in the counseling world, but periodically in the SBC world. Both of those are of interest and important to me. ...

A thread from over at the bad place.

If you know of Heath Lambert as a leader in Christian counseling circles or SBC circles, this might be of some interest to you. Or not. I don't know. 🤷‍♂️ threadreaderapp.com/thread/18948...

The President of the United States has criticized an ally for not surrendering to an invading army sent by an enemy dictator.

He literally blamed them for the war because they didn’t just surrender.

The U.S. should absolutely stand with Ukraine. This is embarrassing.

What Sets the Boundary Lines for Biblical Counseling? - RPM Ministries How do we determine what makes biblical counseling truly biblical? How do we decide who is truly a biblical counselor?

Bob Kellemen had a great thread over at the bad place. He's made it into a blog post. Worth reading if any of this conversation is your jam. rpmministries.org/2025/02/bc-b...

A Personal Announcement | First Baptist Church Jacksonville On Sunday, July 21, at First Baptist, I announced that my young, unmarried daughter is pregnant. I love my precious girl more than I can communicate in words

I don't like how he went about this with his daughter. But this isn't really a celebration, for example. fbcjax.com/first-though...

Hi Shelia! As you can tell, I'm no fan of Heath. But I don't think it's probably fair to say he "celebrated" that situation in his family. As much as I don't want him to mischaracterize others, I need to be consistent and not mischaracterize him.

If those ages are right, that bothers me, too.

3) And while he mispresents his critics and minimizes his misbehavior, he can’t help but lament (twice) about his world “getting small” and how boast about how important people with big names were actually on his side. He's massaging his ego at Eric’s expense.

Heath Lambert Caricatures and Condemns Eric Johnson at ACBC conference
YouTube video by Michael Servetus Heath Lambert Caricatures and Condemns Eric Johnson at ACBC conference

He claimed Eric:
- made total and utter mockery of God’s word.
- slandered God’s word.
- was guilty of both faithless teaching & faithless living.
- had an unchanged and corrupt heart.

Don't believe me? Here's the video. He's minimizing this misbehavior towards Eric. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPP4...

2) He says if he was at fault for anything back then it was for calling Eric Johnson “dangerous.”

To be clear, he actually said Eric was one of "the MOST dangerous Christian psychologists."

You know what else he said about Eric?

His critics are not calling for an end to his public disagreement. They are calling for an end of his personal attacks.

It is disingenuous and dishonest to claim this is just a tactic of sore losers. He misrepresents his critics.

07.02.2025 13:31 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I don’t think any of that is right. At all. His critics aren’t afraid of public disagreement. The problem is that Heath engages in gross personal attacks on others *during* his public disagreements.

1) He says it is unfair for his critics to call for private reconciliation when he is just doing public correction. He calls that a “tactic” of his critics to just “get moral high ground” and “quiet the criticism” when they are “losing the argument.”

There’s a lot going on in these 10 minutes. But let me address just 3 things that apply especially to the last few.
1) The misrepresenting of his critics
2) The minimizing of his misbehavior
3) The massaging of his own ego

Does Public Disagreement Require Personal Reconciliation?
YouTube video by First Baptist Church of Jacksonville Does Public Disagreement Require Personal Reconciliation?

This sure seemed to negate his previous apology.
None has been given since, that I know of.

And a few days ago, we discovered why.

Heath regrets apologizing. Listen to him walk it back. It’s only 10 minutes long. But you can skip to 6:54 to get to it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXwn...

Clarifying and Confessing - Association of Certified Biblical Counselors A letter from Heath Lambert.

He did offer an apology (of sorts) but still insisted he was right. "It was not my intention to skewer Dr. Johnson" rings hollow when it his words were obviously an intentional skewering. He said he was just using a rhetorical strategy, y'all. biblicalcounseling.com/resource-lib...
