The next best thing to a brand new #Madonna song was #Madonna doing a cover version of an old classic - & 25 yrs ago, #onthisdayinpop in 2000, that's exactly what we got with her take on Don McLean's #AmericanPie! Took me a while to fall for this one but the remixes got me hooked!

33 years since #MichaelJackson released the second single from his #Dangerous album - #RememberTheTime was out in the UK #onthisdayinpop in 1992. I remember the time that #TopOfThePops bumped poor Cicero from the show to premier this video! Great track with #TeddyRiley!

35 yrs since #Madonna released #KeepItTogether as a single in the US #onthisdayinpop in 1990. It was a family affair for this shoulder shuffling groove, one that restored Madonna to the top ten after the blip which was #OhFather. Did you enjoy this track?

So #DeadOrAlive's #YouSpinMeRound (Like A Record) was actually released in Nov 1984 but 40 years ago, #onthisdayinpop in 1985, after a slow burn up the charts, it finally made the top 40 (no.40!) in its 13th week on the chart. From there, it took just 4 more weeks to reach no.1!!

33 yrs ago, #onthisdayinpop in 1992, #BetteMidler finally released her #ForTheBoys soundtrack album in the UK (we always had to wait a bit longer for movies). Some lovely songs on this, not least the gorgeous original #EveryRoadLeadsBackToYou and exquisite cover of #InMyLife

Happy 33rd to a still-on-the-cusp #TakeThat's #OnceYouveTastedLove single - released #onthisdayinpop in 1992. This didn't propel them to the level of hysteria #SmashHits was conveying about the band but chart topping success was just around the corner!!
