“If I were talking to a young writer, I would recommend the cultivation of extreme indifference to both praise and blame because praise will lead you to vanity, and blame will lead you to self-pity, and both are bad for writers.”

Andrew Marantz on Janet Flanner’s “Führer” Flanner’s tone was cool and ironic, above taking sides. But, in a Profile of Adolf Hitler, refusing to take sides can be a way to miss the story.

“He becomes sick if he sees blood, yet he is unafraid of being killed or killing.” In 1936, Janet Flanner wrote about Adolf Hitler for this magazine. Andrew Marantz reflects on Flanner’s three-part Profile. #NewYorker100

The Fall of Lucifer by Alphadesigner. Portrait photography by Manel Ortega

Another quite literal blast from the past—a 2007 collaboration with photographer Manel Ortega, part of a project called Theogony. I don't remember why I went for the frame but I noticed a lot of people got so distracted by it, they didn't see the raging erection :D

More attention than wild boars on fire or soul-snatching ghouls? Nah, it’s not Central Park. I like the fact no one bats an eye.

Maybe in other worlds people just don’t care. Maybe that’s how it should be to begin with. It’s a fantasy, no need to mirror our own neuroses :)

No, I haven’t added any mods. You can hide genitalia in settings but it comes with the main package. There are even different styles to choose from.

I’m not sure a vanilla version even exists. It’s a game for adults as far as I can tell.

These little guys were made in Poser 5. The column was drawn in Photoshop, while the rope was a photo cutout. I used to mix a lot stuff back them. One of my favorite compositions ever!

Gulliver’s Adventures by Alphadesigner. Portrait photography by Jeremy Lucido. Model: Quentin Elias

I dis this piece in 2007 while I was still active on Flickr. I saw a portrait of Quentin Elias by Jeremy Lucido and fell in love with it. I asked Jeremy if I could use it and he agreed. That’s how Gulliver’s Adventures was born. Back then dick worship wasn’t really a thing but I think I nailed it!

Calliope Modular V Widescreen by Alphadesigner. Digital media, 2005

I made this piece 20 years ago! The body was created in a 3D app called Poser. There rest was drawn in Photoshop. Back then, it took fucking ages but I loved it. So much of my work is inspired by music. Behold Calliope, the muse of epic poetry!

The reference for the portrait is one of my selfies with a pose that I like to call "reverse prayer". I think it looks both spiritual and hilarious, just like the stories from Apophenia.

David Lynch: The Treachery of Language
YouTube video by What's So Great About That? David Lynch: The Treachery of Language

"If you don't know what it is, a sore can be very beautiful. But as soon as you name it, it stops being beautiful to most people. [If] you took a picture of it, a close up, and you didn't know exactly what it was, it could be a great beauty of organic phenomenon."

Amen!

Obviously chess is played with your genitalia. The dexterity of a dick is very different than that of a vagina, so they should be separated in… god I lost my train of thought…

If historians know something it is this: nothing is inevitable just because it is popular. AI is not an exception. Nor is fascism.

Honestly, participation in this charade on any level or any side just makes it even more absurdist. I don’t know what scares me more—a corporation with a blunt financial interest or a non-profit with a delusional sense of self-importance. I think the latter has more potential to do evil.
