My grandma has 11 kids, too many descendants to count.
My cousin just passed and he’s the first of her lineage to go. This feels..odd.

There’s a sad but beautiful irony in millionaires voting conservative because they want to protect and save their money and then that party in return ignoring climate change and now their homes and assets are up in literal flames smh

I watched the WHAM! documentary last year and was blown away. I was always a fan but it’s just so many incredible musical greats that are gone I cried like a baby a couple times but esp at the story of how CW happened. Talk about perseverance.

That too! I’ve also worked a job with unlimited PTO (the pay was trash for me as a mom or I wouldn’t have left 🤣)
That shit WORKS! I barely took off and the team was really productive due to the laidback culture. It made us want to work lbvs

Why is the cookout tray 8.77 instead of 7.55 now?!

21.12.2024 18:08 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Not allowing PTO to roll over is actually really dumb bc then people take off just bc at the end of the year and the whole team is half as productive bc the staff is out. Rather than allowing a person to amass it and take it at less critical times of the year.
I prefer an 18month window

LinkedIn post by Robert Sterling, featuring a photo of Brian Soderling:

“Brian Thompson went from Jewell, Iowa (population 1,200) to leading 140,000 employees and overseeing $280B of revenue at one of the world’s most important companies. His mom worked as a beautician, his dad at a grain elevator—they were probably really proud when he graduated valedictorian of his 50-person high school class. He played basketball and the trombone, got elected homecoming king, and worked in soybean fields and meat processing plants during summers. While studying at the University of Iowa, he met the woman who would become his wife, with whom he would have two kids. By all accounts, he was smart, hard-working, funny, and a thoroughly decent man.

This guy—not the person who murdered him in cold blood—was everything that’s right and good about America, and the American Dream. May his memory be a blessing, and may his example inspire all of us to do better.”

I don’t normally comment on posts but the situation of the murder of Unitedhealthcare’s CEO did strike a nerve for me. My experience with UnitedHealthcare started in 2014 and ended in 2019. I’m a type 1 diabetic and require insulin injections to survive. 2014 and 2015 were fine but in 2016, UnitedHealthcare decided to decline my insulin coverage. As I was told by the appeals specialist in 2016 and I remember it like it happened an hour ago, “I’m not saying we don’t cover insulin, I’m saying we don’t cover your insulin.” At the time, I was forced buy vials of insulin out of pocket at a cost of $740/vial. Each vial lasting only 3 weeks.

I found out through my partner that I could get my insulin in another country (Brazil) for much cheaper than in the United States. Attached is an image of the insulin I purchased at a pharmacy in Rio de Janeiro. To understand what you see, the total cost of all this insulin was the same as 1 vial in the US. The image is of an 18 month supply.

It’s unfortunate that someone was murdered but it’s also important to think about how many thousands were murdered by a company in order to get a higher quarterly dividend…a company that claims to be in the business of providing healthcare services?

“My father paid health insurance to UHC for 50 years. He was never hospitalized until the last year of his life. He had light stroke, fell, and passed out. We called 911 to take him to the hospital close to my parents house. At 12:30AM, I received a call from UHC case manager that they had to transfer my father to another hospital 15 miles away from his house. It’s because the cost is lower at the hospital they transferred him to. I was so upset. They couldn’t wait till morning to transfer him. It was not fair the way he was handled. He was 93. At 12:30AM, I rushed to the hospital he checked in. I waited in the parking lot for an hour until they carried him out to the ambulance. I made sure that he saw me and that he wasn’t alone. I followed the ambulance to the new hospital 15 miles away. Once again, before they carried him to the emergency room, I made sure he saw me and that he wasn’t alone. I never forget those moments in my life. That’s how bad UHC treats old patient.”

“As a European observer, what strikes me about this post is that “$250B of revenue” is in the first line of text rather than an achievement in patient outcomes or the health care system. What is the priority? Do customers feel the services have improved? Has the system become more productive and easier to use?

Revenue is what companies collect to provide products and services. It is what companies do with this money that counts… I hope America takes this time to reflect and reform.”
