Some scenes from the Women’s March Mpls. I’m glad I went, though I ran out of steam and had to turn back early. Grateful for all the volunteers, especially the one who gave me some earplugs I badly needed.
The Casa Maria food drive was a success too. πŸ’™neighbors πŸ’™

Struggling with the time change and remembering that keeping clocks the same year-round was the ONE THING Trump said he’d do that I hoped he would

This is the real fraud if you ask me. All they do is lie.

β€œThe fact that their profits are predicated on planetary devastation helps explain why do-gooder discourse among the powerful is giving way to open expressions of disdain for the idea that we owe each other anything by right of our shared humanity.”

It’s like I keep saying, future generations will marvel that we once had all we needed to allow everyone to live without struggle or hunger, but those on the top took it all away, just to feel powerful.

Maybe they’ll wonder if some people tried to shout the truth from their little boats.

All that means to me is that I really need to get some fish sandwiches while I can.

Premium customer veneers cost about $2K per tooth. It’s how some dentists make most of their money these days. Meanwhile my former dental clinic, which focused on preventative care, has folded, leaving me scrambling to try to get a simple filling I was going to have done next week.

Not even gonna look, I know all I gotta do is sub my usual olive oil mist for a stick of butter and a pint of cream and presto, kitchen goddess

University community critiques GOP proposal of Charlie Kirk statue on campus A group of Minnesota Republican senators introduced a bill to construct a statue of political activist Charlie Kirk on the University of Minnesota campus this past September, following his death....

More BS brought to you by the authors of the bill to make β€œTrump Derangement Syndrome” an official mental illness.

Might be fun to see what sorts of creative fun U of M students would have with a Kirk statue on campus, but not gonna happen.

Talking with some local folks about Noem being replaced with Markwayne and one guy summed it up well with β€œit’s like shitting your pants and changing your shirt”

I used to transcribe for an ER and about 1/4 of the notes were dental emergencies. Makes sense when over 1/4 of Americans have no dental insurance and can’t afford preventative care. It’s all so pointless and infuriating.

Annoying co-worker awards: people who say β€œhey, hi, sorry to bother you, um, yeah, so I have a quick question,” thereby starting off by already making it less quick, and then the question is something they really didn’t have to bother you with like β€œis the conference room unlocked?”

This stranger appreciates mellowed-out daymakers like you. Sometimes at the end of a bad day it makes all the difference.

When I was training for Tucson I did a lot of hill runs, but still ended up with sore quads. I tried a solo marathon a few years ago at a very slow pace to see if I’d still get them - yep. If I were going to do another, I’d probably do a longer training program.

I have a grapefruit knife and spoon so I sometimes eat a half out of the peel like my dad showed me when I was a kid. For some reason grapefruit reached peak popularity in the 70’s.

Thanks for not saying happy birthday anyway

β€œConservatives have long warned us about government overreach, wasteful spending, abuse of power, lack of transparency, and bureaucrats operating without accountability. Alligator Alcatraz is a case study of all five of those things.”

Thank you David.

Read this all the way through. If we ever get through this and someone writes a book about it, one of the most interesting parts will be the neighborhood networks. Idk how exactly, but they function better than organizations that have had years to develop.

Maybe set up funds for people who can’t afford to get the ID they need to vote?

I write letters to potential voters, and there’s even a local group that does this. But is it enough? I’m not worried about U.S. middle-class Minnesotans, I’m worried about people in other states who already have to wait hours at the polls, and don’t have the resources to get the ID they need.
