APA Style 7th Edition In-Text Citation Checklist
We recommend using a checklist to ensure that these details are correct and that you've remembered other citation guidelines.
(2/2)
π In-Text Citation Checklist:
apastyle.apa.org/instructiona...
π more free handouts: apastyle.apa.org/instructiona...
In an APA Style paper
πΉ each work you cite should appear in the reference list, and
πΉ each work in the reference list should be cited in the text (body) at least once.
π "The text (body)" includes any tables or figures that are included. So, citing a work in a table or in a figure "counts."

If you open a PDF on JSTOR and it isnβt fully #accessible, you wonβt have to stop there.
Soon, youβll be able to request a more accessible version right from the article page with a new on-demand accessible PDF option. In most cases, it'll be ready in minutes.

Q: Can I cite a quote from a YouTube video? A: Yes! In the in-text citation, where you would include a page number for a quote from a written work, include the time stamp instead. Use the time for the beginning of the quotation. Use this guideline from Publication Manual (7th ed.) Section 8.28 to quote from other audiovisual works too, including TV shows, podcast episodes, audiobooks, and streaming videos. Example: Instead of β(Espinoza, 2026, p. 15)β you would write β(Espinoza, 2026, 1:41)β to indicate the time when the quote begins.
The guidance in this APA Style FAQ comes from Section 8.28 of the Publication Manual (7th ed.): "Direct Quotation of Material Without Page Numbers."

Black-and-white photo of Pace Universityβs Student Government Association on the Pleasantville Campus in 1979. Seven students sit on a wooden fence outdoors, smiling at the camera. Several of the men have mustaches, and the group is dressed in late-1970s casual attire.
Itβs 1979. The hair is feathered. The mustaches are strong. And Paceβs Student Government Association is hard at work on the Pleasantville Campus.π Hereβs to Pace SGA then and nowβsame spirit, slightly less βstache.

These owls from the Library's Japanese prints and drawings collection don't seem that thrilled, actually, although it's sure to be a hoot.
