The DoD now has more money than it knows what to do with.
Imagine if we spent that money on healthcare or housing instead.

Unvaccinated Georgia resident diagnosed with measles | What we know
Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Measles has found its way into CDCβs home state of GA. We seriously want RFK jr to go.
This is not ok. It doesnβt have to be this way.

βWe want to rebuild trustβ: fired CDC workers form group to combat Trumpβs war on science
Former employees stepped up to create the National Public Health Coalition to advocate for public health after Trumpβs cuts to the agency
βIt breaks my heart to think that peopleβs health is going to increasingly be tied to where they live. But for now, itβs going to be imperative that we have groups like the National Public Health Coalition that people feel they can trust.β Said Jerome Adams, Surgeon General in 1st Trump admin.

COVID-19 vaccination status during pregnancy and preeclampsia risk: the pandemic-era cohort of the INTERCOVID consortium
COVID-19 vaccination with a booster reduces the odds of PE by 30% approaching 60%
reduction among women with pre-existing morbidities.
Remember when RFK Jr. unilaterally decided that COVID19 vaccines should no longer be recommended during pregnancy?
Well, COVID19 increases the risk of preeclampsia.
And it turns out that getting boosted, either before or during pregnancy, significantly reduces the risk of preeclampsia.

Inside RFK Jr.βs push against the flu vaccine that he links to his voice condition
Trumpβs health secretary has halted federal flu vaccine promotions, citing personal beliefs about vaccine risks.
RFK Jr stopped flu vaccine promotional campaign almost a year ago. He stopped it within days of being confirmed as HHS Sec.
We know mass media campaigns work to promote healthy behaviors like getting vaccinated & quitting smoking.
RFK Jr needs to go.

Attacks on DEI are a public health threat
Black communities are affected disproportionately.
Let's see how
It threatens the public health workforce.
In 2025, the Trump administration:
Targeted workers on DEI βwatchlistsβ, most of whom were Black women
Shut down internal equity training and initiatives
Fired employees working on programs supporting diverse populations
Laid off Black women at disproportionally high rates
A less diverse workforce and fewer perspectives mean the public health workforce is less equipped to address health disparities.
It cuts funding for research and programs
Since Jan 2025, HHS and the administration:
Paused grant funding to study health equity
Cut hundreds of federal programs
Enacted new requirements for grant applicants to rule out βDEIβ and βwokeβ research
Just this month, HHS attempted to cut another $600M in health funding
Public health is meant to address these disparities. But we canβt do that without funding research and grants that support communities.
Despite these attacks, public health workers are still fighting for you.
Organizations and public health workers all over the country are continuing the important work and research that directly impacts Black communities.

Statement on Feb 18, 2026 Acting CDC Director Announcement
The National Public Health Coalition is once again disappointed with Sec. Kennedy and the Trump Administration. CDC staff were not notified about the Agency's new director, just as with the removal of Jim OβNeill, staff learned about their new leadership via reporting from the New York Times. The fact of the matter is, Jay Bhattacharya is Acting CDC Director in name only. We know that Sec. Kennedy is pulling the strings, deciding the health priorities on a whim, and cutting out public health professionals.
Statement on Feb 18, 2026 Acting CDC Director Announcement
In the six months since Dr. Monarez was fired, the CDC continues to be in turmoil. Staff morale is at an all-time low, and staff are losing hope that they will have a permanent CDC Director, let alone one who is qualified to lead the agency. Our coalition continues to stand with CDC staff and demands the Administration nominate a qualified director immediately.
We, the National Public Health Coalition, released a statement about Feb 18, 2026 announcement from HHS. New Acting CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya will be starting ASAP. Note, Jay is the NIH Director.
Let's be clear this is in name only and RFK Jr is calling all the shots within HHS. (pun intended)
