I'm a queer, trans woman who loves coffee, anything related to science, talking too much, and dumb jokes! My career is weird: PhD in psych before joining the US federal gov before joining the private sector β looking for my next adventure now! DMs open!
I might be the sole person in the universe who finds this amusing.

I loved it! I read almost all of it while sitting on a beach in Florida.

Hey, all I'm saying is that you only *know* the data is bad if you look at it.
If you don't look at it, then BOOM, problems are gone!

If you unironically post AI-generated "thought content" on LinkedIn because you think that makes you an Influencer... I'm just saying that I wouldn't be sad if you received a small electric shock.

17.04.2025 03:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My car is having problems, and I spoke with someone who literally buys cars as a service.
And his advice was basically, "Ok, but... have you considered *not* buying a car?"
Said differently, earnest authenticity kicks ass.
17.04.2025 03:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am fantastically thankful for the people in my life who are willing to be "weird".
Everyone is weird. But there's something special about someone letting it show.
Presa canario full-on snoozing, with her head resting on a knit blanket. One ear is flopped-up so that it's sticking straight up in the air.
Yes, yes, everything sucks. But have you seen this sleepy baby angel? She's the SLEEPIEST baby angel. LOOK AT THAT EAR, FRIENDS.

13.04.2025 15:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Which feels like it could lead to very toxic situations? Like, it's already super easy to convince human users that LLMs are "real" in some way... models tuned to always praise the user could either actively prey on that and/or passively cause dependence in bad ways....
13.04.2025 15:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0These models also definitely seemed tuned to flatter the user. I have occasionally found legitimate benefit from asking an LLM to help me reflect on something. But I *always* have to cut through incredible amounts of bullshit flattery. (cc @timkellogg.me )

But to use it for what is theoretically the more fun or personally meaningful stuff feels... dumb?
Especially because it will always be easy to verify that they didn't actually write the post... and right now, all of those tools sound the same.
13.04.2025 01:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am genuinely curious as to why so many folks use AI to generate social media posts, blog posts, or personal communications for them? Like, the whole point of that media is it's supposed to be *from* *you*... if a bot wrote it... why even bother? What do they think their achieving?
13.04.2025 01:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Seriously one of my favorite type of experiences... For me, I love those moments where it feels like the walls come down and people just talk earnestly and excitedly about the thing they do.

...this question implies that there was a moment in my life when I *wasn't* cringe, and quite frankly, I find that insulting.

27.03.2025 23:12 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's weird how imperfect and/or weird writing is becoming a sign that an actual human wrote something?
Like β "Hm, the flow of this memo is somewhat meandering and repeats itself in a couple places... and that word is definitely used incorrectly... WOW! A person took time to write this? How sweet!"
Reading notes from my last doctor's appointment, and the notes all refer to me with feminine identifiers.
Which feels great! Don't get me wrong!
