A pale creature with toothsome bloody jaws open to take another bite of an off-image victim. the front of its head looks like a sleeping man's face. it's highlighted by a flashlight in a dark tiled room, with some blood smeared on the tiles behind it.

Panel 1
Gustopher arrives in the kitchen. In his hand is a list that says "Cast" at the top. He shouts excitedly.
Gustopher: DAD! I was cast in the Christmas play!
Mewbert is also there.

Panel 2
August inserts a casserole into the oven. The casserole is in the type of casserole dish that everyone has seen but no one can find it in any stores. This is the sort of observation that may pay off in the future but it probably won't.
August: Congratulations.
Gustopher: I GET TO LIGHT THE STREETS ON FIRE!

Panel 3
August is perplexed at the inclusion of arson in a Christmas play. Surely the school wouldn't do that, especially not after the incident of 1995. He checks the cast list.
August: What? That can't be- Ah...

Panel 4
August: You're a street lamp lighter.
Gustopher: Oh... I guess that's cool too.
Mewbert: Mew (Possibly meaning "My condolences small one. But do not give up hope. I truly believe that within you is the ability to give the best performance possible. You will light the lamps in such a glorious manner, the audiences will believe the streets have been set ablaze by the power of your performance. Enough talk, feed me and pet me.")

The star cluster Pismis 24 lies within the much larger emission nebula called NGC 6357, located about 8,000 light-years from Earth. The cluster is seen here above a small portion of the nebula. The gas below the stars glows through ionization caused by intense ultraviolet radiation from the massive young stars within the cluster. The strong radiation and stellar winds from from these blazing, blue-white stars also pushes the nebular material outward, creating one of many low-density bubbles within NGC 6357.

Hubble was recently retrained on NGC 6302, known as the "Butterfly Nebula," to observe it across a more complete spectrum of light, from near-ultraviolet to near-infrared, helping researchers better understand the mechanics at work in its technicolor "wings" of gas. The observations highlight a new pattern of near-infrared emission from singly ionized iron, which traces an S shape from lower left to upper right. This iron emission likely traces the central star system’s most recent ejections of gas, which are moving at much faster speeds than the previously expelled mass.

The star or stars at its center are responsible for the nebula's appearance. In their death throes, they have cast off layers of gas periodically over the past couple thousand years. The "wings" of NGC 6302 are regions of gas heated to more than 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit that are tearing across space at more than 600,000 miles an hour.

NGC 6302 lies between 2,500 and 3,800 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius.

If the Andromeda galaxy were brighter, it would look much larger and would dominate the night sky:

Size: It would be about six times larger than the moon and appear to stretch across more than three degrees of the sky

Disk: Its vast disk would be the most prominent feature in the night sky

Halo: Its extended halo would fill a patch of sky more than 60 degrees wide
